1. Let me guess, Iran warned the US ahead of time and sent a few irrelevant missiles their way. Iran will explain to its proxies and supporters how strong they are. The US takes a little hit on the cheek and moves on, having accomplished all of its goals.

   Meanwhile Israel continues to make an absolute mockery of Iran’s air defenses. But imo the US portion of this war is probably over.

   Edit: They only sent SIX missiles? Who cares. New York times is reporting that advance notice was given. Pick up the phone everyone, because I called it.

3. Iran’s “deterrence” isn’t even non-credible, it’s absolutely non-existent.

   It will continue to be so if they always respond to attacks like this with only their people and their proxies instead of the wider international community in mind. I understand why they’d limit themselves here because they’re definitely getting a proper pasting if it turns into an escalatory spiral, but they will never be able to prevent Israel (and the US) from carrying out increasingly daring attacks on their mainland if they respond to every major attack on the country by just flinging a couple of Cold War era missiles at US bases in the region and then say they consider the issue “resolved”.

   I’m waiting for all the people who kept saying that Iran is still a credible threat to spin this. This is the ultimate humiliation for the Iranian leadership.

   Totally performative for the Iranian regime to crow over – whilst the Americans and Israelis operate largely at will.
