Meghan Markle has been harshly criticized by a Royal commentator who claimed that the Duchess has been “humiliated and lampooned” in Hollywood for being the “least self-aware” public figure with her various claims about herself and the Royal Family.
The Duchess of Sussex’s relationship with the British press has been rocky, suggesting it was one of the reasons she and Prince Harry chose to relocate to America when they stepped down as working royals in 2020, however, in recent years there has been a noticeable shift in the US media’s approach.
This year, Harry and Meghan were the focus of a biting cover story by Hollywood bible Vanity Fair, which labeled them “American hustle” and published various allegations against them. Two years ago, the couple were dubbed as the “biggest losers in Hollywood” by the Hollywood Reporter, with the outlet returning the following year with a humiliating report on why the industry “keeps quitting” on them.

Meanwhile, Harry and Meghan were ridiculed in South Park when the series dedicated an entire episode to them in February 2023. The episode, titled The Worldwide Privacy Tour, was the second one of the series’ Season 26. It revolved around the fictional Prince of Canada and his wife (allegedly poking fun at Harry and Meghan), who journey to the small town of Colorado, reports the Express.
South Park’s episode tracked the couple as they strive for a normal, low-key life. They attempt to do this on a global tour, audibly demanding privacy.
A Royal expert has slammed Meghan Markle following her latest podcast appearance, where she discussed “lies” being spread about her and expressed a desire to “tell the truth” to rewrite her narrative, which some see as a dig at the Royal Family.
US journalist Lee Cohen criticized the Duchess as the “most tone deaf, least self-aware figure in the public eye,” stating that Hollywood has “rightly humiliated” her for this perception.
Cohen told the Express, “[Meghan] Markle may be the most tone deaf, least self-aware figure in the public eye.”
He harshly added, “She has been rightly humiliated and lampooned for it in Hollywood by everyone from cartoon characters to comedians.”
He continued, referencing her 2021 Oprah interview, “This is the woman who, in her 2021 Oprah interview, spun tales that crumbled under scrutiny. Even her husband backed away from her charges of racism against his family.”
The commentator also noted that Hollywood’s mockery of the Sussexes is unsurprising given their blunders. He remarked, “No wonder Hollywood’s had a field day at the Sussexes’ expense. South Park roasted them in 2023, and comics like Chris Rock have taken gleeful jabs.”
“Even a Spotify exec, Bill Simmons, branded them ‘grifters’ after their podcast deal fizzled out post-Archetypes.”
In March 2023, comedian Chris Rock made light of Meghan’s racism allegations, stating she was merely dealing with “some in-law s— and joking that she had won the “light-skinned lottery”.
On another note, after Spotify terminated their contract with Harry and Meghan following just 12 podcast episodes, top Spotify podcast executive Bill Simmons didn’t hold back his criticism, labeling the couple as “f—–g grifters”, a term used in America for con artists.
He stated: “The f—–g grifters. That’s the podcast we should have launched with them.
“I’ve got to get drunk one night and tell the story of the Zoom I had with Harry to try and help him with a podcast idea. It’s one of my best stories.”
Harry and Meghan have yet to respond to these allegations.
