CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Experts in quantum technology are taking over Chattanooga this week, with the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) serving as a central hub for innovation and collaboration.
The university is welcoming internationally recognized scientists and researchers Monday through Wednesday to explore how quantum systems are shaping the future of computing, sensing, and communication.
More than 20 featured speakers are participating in the event, bringing voices from Harvard University, the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), and leading quantum companies like IonQ.
Sessions will cover a wide range of topics—from developing cutting-edge algorithms to tackling hardware challenges in the quantum space.
“Well, I think this is a very interesting venue where we can show students what the state of the art is in their field,” said Dr. Reinhold Mann, UTC’s Vice Chancellor for Research. “They can see what they can aspire to and how knowledge is being advanced in this country and around the world.”
The three-day event underscores UTC’s growing role in quantum innovation and workforce development, helping position Chattanooga as a key player in the rapidly evolving quantum landscape.
