Benefits rise dwarfed by cost of living crisis as inflation hits 7% Benefits and pensions rise won’t touch the sides as runaway inflation swallows the hike whole

  1. It’s a lot better than the fuck all that the majority of workers are getting

Edit: I’m saying there are a lot more stories in the media about this recently and fewer stories about those who are receiving between 2%-3%. Not only does it seem like they’re trying to stoke us vs them mentality, this time around they’re trying to sweep the worst of it under the rug

  2. And of course next April, if inflation has fallen back to 2% the newspapers will have the story – “Why are benefits increasing by 8% when inflation is only 2%”.

All conveniently ignoring that benefit and pension increases are determined six months before by the 12 month inflation to the end of September.

  3. My PIP increase is just above the increase to my water bill. My PIP and ESA increase together doesn’t cover my electric bill increase. Unfortunately every bill is increasing. I will be worse off and have accepted that I will be making changes.

  4. Knowing how the Tory party and its voters feel about those on benefits, I am confident the government will stay up all night to try and tackle this problem. They will not rest until the poorest and most vulnerable in society are hit as hard as possible by this crisis, as a punishment for not being born into a wealthy family or not pulling on their bootstraps hard enough.
