Is crazy that they’re called “Humanitarian Foundation”. They only lure Palestinians with the promise that they will feed them, only to have the IDF and ISIS shoot on the starving civilians.
It really boils down to either letting the aid be hijacked by Hamas or having armed distribution.
Certainly the ideal is that Palestinians should be able to provide food for themselves, but after years of wars, there is simply not enough farmland, and no trade can go in or out with the blockade.
Perhaps allowing individual European countries to provide aid via sea would be more viable than UN convoys that simply end up being stolen.
Even better would be European investment by countries like Spain and Ireland that recognize Palestine. Instead of free aid that can be easily taken away, companies could move into Gaza and provide income to residents. This also would make the civilians have more to lose if Hamas decides to attack Israel, as their quality of life would depreciate during war.
Aid saves lives, but not nations. If Palestine has no exports, nothing to provide the world except outrage at “Israeli atrocities” why should they care about the extremists in their midst. Only by building a capitalist, global-facing economy can Palestinians truly thrive and this conflict begin to heal.
