  1. technically Poland didn’t exist either since PRL (Polish People’s Republic vs Republic of Poland) was a different country, it just didn’t change borders.

  2. As a Vietnamese, I am glad Ukraine is free from Russia to speak their own language and do what they want. Hopefully, Belarus will be free soon, too.

  3. They absolutely existed, just not on the Soviet occupation maps

  4. The joke goes further: all country that were at war with Poland last century either do not exist or experienced multiple nuclear bombings.

  5. World did not start with ussr, those countries existed before 1990.

  6. That’s why our national anthem is “we ain’t dead yet”

  7. Poland didn’t exist then de jure as it was the Polish People Republic not Poland

  8. Hmm… (for example) USSR(Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic) not only existed, it was also a founding member of UN with PPR…same as BSSR. Now you could argue that Lithuania did not exist, as it never accepted it’s soviet past, opting out to define it was occupied.

  9. I didn’t see the news today – God, what happened to Denmark and Sweden?

  10. Don’t mess with Poland or you’ll cease to exist.

  11. Learning geography and history at school was pretty crazy in those days.

I was young, I didn’t understand much, but I was outraged that in the next class I needed to know more countries and capitals.

In one year I learned about why the flag of the USSR was red (from blood on white banners of peaceful workers) and boom the following year I learned about the war crimes of the USSR committed against Polish officers in Katyn

  12. Poland didn’t move to a new neighbourhood, the new neighbourhood moved to Poland.
