The Moldovan Ministry of Energy launched a tender last year to build renewable energy facilities and has now announced the results: fourteen companies have been selected.

Eight offers were submitted for the construction of wind farms, of which five were selected, with a total capacity of 105 megawatts (MW). These include the consortium represented by Lumina Noastră with two farms adding up to 65 MW, Navitas Energy with 12.5 MW across two locations, and Windnova with a 27.5 MW installation.

For solar parks, 24 bids were submitted, and six were selected within the available 60 MW capacity. The winners include KKK Invest with a 5.7 MW park, and a consortium led by Lumina Noastră with five sites totalling 54.3 MW.

“To bring investment home”

“These auctions will bring 200 million euros in direct investment over the next three years,” said Dorin Junghietu, Minister of Energy. “We’re also pleased with the strong participation of local investors who submitted competitive bids. Our goal is to bring investment home, build regional cooperation that reduces risks, connects markets and protects citizens.”

Secretary of State Carolina Novac reaffirmed that Moldova aims to source 30 per cent of its electricity from renewables by 2030. To support this, the Ministry of Energy plans to improve legislation and introduce support schemes for energy storage and green technologies.

A new round of tenders for wind farms with a capacity of up to 173 MW is planned for October 2025. For the first time, it will also include energy storage systems of up to 22 MW. The deadline for submissions is expected in March 2026.

Selected companies will be guaranteed the right to sell electricity to the state energy supplier, Energocom, for 15 years from the start of operations, at the offered price, adjusted for inflation and other tariff factors.
