  1. Not an experience i would have expected, but im glad you had fun.

  2. What stood out to me while I was in Düsseldorf were the Grünanlage and the Altstadt

  3. Nice pictures! I really like many of the newer buildings, as shown in picture 3. Compared to Cologne, I prefer Düsseldorf’s newer architecture to Cologne’s new buildings, which seem uninspired. Cologne has a more vibrant nightlife, though. Düsseldorf has a lot to offer culturally, too. Both are cool cities.

  4. The park on the right riverbank of the first picture was an urban motorway, until it wisely wasn’t.

Not visible from the pics, but Düsseldorf became the main city where Japanese companies concentrated their offices after WW2, there is a very large Japanese community and it has several Japanese cuisine restaurants and shops that according to my Japanese colleagues are “like in Tokyo”.

  5. Düsseldorf is the best city in germany because it is equally beautiful as other cities, but without all the crowds :>

  6. Yeah, Düsseldorf is nice, but have you ever been to a really nice city?

  7. In my citizenship exam I learned that Düsseldorf is the capital of NRW.

This is how i “discovered it”, i am ashamed.

  8. I think it’s one of the best cities in Germany – fight me if you want!

It’s small enough to be easily discovered by foot or bike, and with public transportation you can be everywhere in the city in about 15-20ish minutes. However it also has really nice restaurants, shops and cultural offerings. The city is always alive, people are friendly and it’s really open, but at the same time it keeps a “small city feeling” and thus it’s not always crowded to the brim.

t has a lot of green spaces and it’s close to a couple of forests and mountains if you like the outdoors. Plus it’s well connected to other cities and countries, Düsseldorf airport is reachable in just under 10 minutes from Hbf and offers a lot of oportunities for travel. You are also 30 min away from the Netherlands in case you want to shop on a Sunday 😉

It might not be the most beautiful one, that’s true, and it could certainly be a bit cleaner than now. I’m probably biased because I live here but I can’t imagine myself moving anywhere. I go to Köln for work sometimes and I find the city much nore chaotic.

  9. Just discovered the capital of the most populated German state. Ok.

  10. dead, bland and boring. like most of germany.

i prefer asian countries with more soul.

  11. Düsseldorf is a city? Why it’s not called Düsselstadt then? xD

  12. bro, what is this camera. looks like it has a 2005 filter lol

  13. They did put the city freeway underground and recovered precious urban space directly by the river.

  14. Düsseldorf is definetly a cool city. I always enjoy going there.
Especially the boulevard right next to the Rhein is really beautiful.

  15. I honestly found it so dull … what is there to do here?

  16. Düsseldorf propaganda by an anti-Kölner spotted.

  17. Düsseldorf as a city always gives me good vibes. For the population size it’s vibrant

  18. Interesting, I have never been there and visiting it never crossed my mind. But also according to the other comments it seems to be a nice place. I wonder why it has such a bad reputation (or more the lack of a good reputation).

  19. My company has an office there. If only I could convince them of a visit. But then again, your first trip to Germany… for work? Bleh.
