We have a broken society and children are not getting the right support so they turn to the internet
Making misogyny a crime will just have more children in trouble with the police and probably make things worse
We need real investment in younger people to build a better future
The deeper the narrative is pushed that all men are monsters the more monsters are created.
What a failure of the education system disguised as insight.
Look at our leadership. They espouse the traditional misogynistic values. Children learn from their environment, their parente, the leaders they see around them etc.
Maybe more male teachers to provide an example of how men should behave?
Why not push for more male teachers. Have the example be set inside the school as to what the standard that is expected. Children emulate what they see.
>70% of female teachers have faced misogyny in UK schools, poll shows
Well, if a POLL shows something, then it must be true. Lets not collect any actual evidence, nor offer any proof. Also, notice how the guaridan never reports about the way MALE teachers are treated.
70% might sound high, but a similar number of americans believe angels are real. And a disturbing number of people believe the earth is flat. So, lets put too much stock in a “poll” from a sexist, misandrist paper that openly attacks men and encourages hatred towards them.
The guardian has never, and will never publish similar articles where the males are positioned as the victims. This is just part of the ongoing feminist intent to tarnish all men, and remove them from power, and subjugate them to female empowerment.
I’m sure some boys behaviour can be raucus, bolshy and unacceptable. However i remember school, and remember some girls being right nasty bitches too. What we need is balance, in the treatment of childeren, and a change in the minds of soceity towards boys and men.
I’ve worked over a decade in schools.
This is a societal issue. I’ve heard and seen ridiculously sexually aggressive comments and actions from BOTH students and staff.
From students as young as 11 slapping girls behinds to workplace “banter” at fellow female colleagues behind their backs.
This doesn’t just stop at schools. It’s far worse outside the school. Facts are facts, Britain has a very romanticised view of “Lad Culture”.
The other issue is Local authorities and social welfare departments are fully aware of how every student has a smartphone and sexualised content is thrown at users constantly. From blatant porn ads and hyper-sexually charged social media content.
It’s blatantly obvious to adults, but for young children, it’s becoming normal for self-proclaimed “influencers” to prance around half naked.
This is not something an overworked teacher will be able to deal with but the government and relevant ministries.
Reddit post about misogyny? I can smell the comments already
Teaching had become a female dominated profession as the wage and social capital of the job has substantially declined. Teaching was make dominated in the 1950s and a job that a single earner could support a family and house with.
If you want to attract more men into teaching, pay teachers much more and improve the working conditions.
I still remember about 18 years ago one of my class mates telling our very attractive teacher that he’d shag her. Class had just started and she was just trying to get us teens to quieten down and something she said directly to him triggered him giving her “banter” which then lead to the comment. She didn’t make a big scene of it but said that was entirely inappropriate. As kids still most of the class laughed because it was undermining the teacher rather than the belittling sexism itself. As an adult I can’t imagine how uncomfortable such a situation would feel for her but as a boy I laughed because it was an outlandish thing to say that disrupted the lesson and stopped us learning.
As students it becomes an us vs them with teachers which can only worsen situations where inappropriate comments are made. I’d put that down to students not being treated as human enough so it encourages the divide with resentment. I’d say that this is a small aspect that might be overlooked but that will need to adjust alongside wider actions to tackle this problem.
As for Misogyny directly, it is a cultural shift. You need non misogynistic parents to be raising kids and for non misogynistic governing steering the country. At the same time you need to stop fueling Incels by ignoring male problems, the perception that only helping women happens is a huge platform to recruit new Incels.
Kids are growing up with access to porn that shows sexual exploitation for money. We need to do more to ensure that kids can’t view adult material. It’s really worrying to think about how the extreme material on the internet is shaping the minds of young people. Like, this is not pearl clutching. There is no limit to the vile and disturbing things that kids can stumble across online. This needs to stop – but the adults are too worried about protecting their own precious porn access.
