For those of you living in the Fulham area, you might be aware of the overground railway bridge that connects Fulham to Battersea. Came across a proposed plan to create the “diamond jubilee bridge” which would contain a foot and cycle path right next to the current railway bridge.

The plan was proposed about a decade ago but complications around funding have caused delays however local councils hope to raise enough to start construction in the near future.

Currently the only footpaths in this area are Wandsworth bridge and Battersea bridge so this proposal would make a lot of lives easier.

  1. There’s no chance of anyone finding the money, though, is there? Levelling up Fulham is not a slogan with broad political appeal.

  2. Seeing as everything has to have a name like Gherkin, Shard, Grater, Walkie Talkie. I name this “the spectacles”

  3. Meanwhile there are no footpaths east of tower bridge but Greenwich foot tunnel. This project should stay abandoned and the long requested Rotherhithe – Canary Wharf bridge should be given funding.

  4. Great, I live in the area and the fact that this bridge isn’t a footbridge is such a headache. I know there’s been a lot of talk so probably won’t get done anytime soon.

Don’t care how or what it looks like.

  5. The only tall ships that go through tower bridge are super yachts and some random sailing yachts

Time to build about 4 more bridges to the east and forget building yet more to the west

  6. When will we stop naming things over one overhyped lady.

  7. Great another West London Bridge and the east left with hardly enough crossings
