Educational institutions where the mother tongue of ethnic Bulgarian students is taught will receive reissued Bulgarian literature textbooks for the ninth grade. The 1,000 copies were printed by a publisher in the Bulgarian capital, Sofia, and distributed during a festive event organized by the Ministry of Education and Research, reports IPN.
The event brought together Bulgarian language teachers from the Taraclia and Cantemir districts, from the city of Chisinau and the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia. The Deputy General Secretary of the MEC, Ludmila Pavlov, emphasized that the support provided by the Bulgarian partners reaffirms their commitment to education and linguistic diversity.
The relevant Ministry specifies that the textbook “Bulgarian Literature for the 9th Grade” has been used since 1993 in schools in Moldova, where Bulgarian is taught as a mother tongue. The initiative to reprint was supported by the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Sofia and the Executive Agency for Bulgarians Abroad, and a publishing house in Sofia printed the 1 000 copies.
Currently, Bulgarian as a mother tongue is studied by 4,944 students, being taught by over 100 teachers, in 25 schools across the country.
