Tentatively, good news. But they are already ramping up efforts to build roads through 59 million acres of forest service land for the express purpose of logging and mining and ignoring environmental regulations, so what might feel like a win is just a miss-direction. They want to make money off the land and are happy to sell our collective future to do so.
>Lee [announced](https://ksltv.com/local-news/sen-mike-lee-announces-changes-to-proposed-public-lands-sale/789336/) changes to his idea last night – as a last ditch effort to save his unpopular initiative. His new proposal would exempt Forest Service land and reduce the total acreage sold. We need to keep up the pressure to make sure Lee’s updated provision stays out of the bill.
It’s not over until it’s over. Keep pestering your Senators, Representatives, and neighbors
Instead, Trump will just remove all the protections and lease the land out to Chinese companies.
Watch.
“thumps down” eh? Nice proofreading.
Good!
Still worth contacting your senators and asking them to oppose ANY public land sales. We have an opportunity right now to show politicians that public land sales are a “third-rail” issue. Even if the BLM land sales are removed too, this will be tried again (as Senator Lee is already doing). If a hundred people call, your senator will know public land sales are unpopular, if a thousand people call, they’ll know it would be politically disastrous for them to vote for any public land sales now or in the future.
Finally something both sides can agree on.
I hope the lands are protected and the administration moves on.
