Let’s have it
I went to see The Ballad of Willis Island last night. A friend invited me as he’s a big Tim Key fan
I absolutely loved it. The whole cinema was laughing, and it was incredibly sweet. I’d recommend it to anyone to gets the chance to see it.
Mega stressed about multiple things right now so last night was really nice
Last day of work today before 3 weeks off and, boy howdy, am I ever ready.
I hope this counts. After a small operation and a few days of opioid painkillers (codeine and paracetamol) I am finally no longer constipated!
Oh happy day!
Barely 5 feet tall and have managed to build and secure to the wall 3 of the Ikea tall pax wardrobes on my own in my daughters room
Should’ve bought a spare to use as a coffin as my god everything hurts 😂
Got a couple.
So many people have now donated to or joined the Bumblebee Conservation Trust after the post they made on Facebook that [I shared here yesterday](https://www.reddit.com/r/CasualUK/comments/1ljd6bn/a_thank_you_to_rcasualuk_from_the_bumblebee/). It really made my heart soar.
The [site I built where Liam sings the weather at you for the upcoming Oasis gigs](https://theliamforecast.com) got launched by Rolling Stone magazine, as well as a few other publications and is proving quite popular.
Yay I get to post. Saw an old friend at the weekend, we had a good long catch up and a big old heart to heart. My kid got tired so we had to leave a bit earlier than everyone else, and on the way out she gave me the biggest hug I’ve had in a long time.

Had an interview last week and found out yesterday I didnt get it. Very odd since she ended the interview with “we’re very interested in you”.
Win though as she felt my experience better suited another team so have a chat with the manager this afternoon.
Soooo nearly there for my 2 weeks off! Just 4 days to go! Very excited
Also all my friends are in planning mode which I like as I am also a planner. Currently in the depths of planning my brother’s stag do, a friend’s September birthday trip to Disneyland Paris, and a holiday in January
I can confirm that waking up and shouting at the top of your lungs with the most glutteral scream possible, really fires you up for the day.
I’m not sure I can plan it so that a giant spider lands on my hand every morning I reach for a window handle but if the opportunity arises, there does seem to be method to the madness.
I tried on my kilt last week and it *did not* go well.
However this has renewed my dieting resolve and the days following have been easier and the weight is trending down again. 6kg to target weight and I’ll try the kilt again.
Went to a work do (on a school night) and smashed it on karaoke
Walked down to my local outdoor gym with the aim of using the high bar for pull ups. What an embarrassment – barely 2 done.
Feel a bit of a pillock but guess you have to start somewhere.
Got paid today!
Feeling like I’ve made huge progress with pole fitness since I started in May. I managed to do some moves where I was just holding myself with my arms!
Yes they were messy and I did smack my ankle quite hard into the pole at one point, but I would never have been able to support my (considerable…) body weight on my arms two months ago!
Had a flu which was really bad, got better now… Feeling pretty happy that finally i was able to hit Gym back 🥳
It’s payday.
I managed to successfully get the day off despite a last minute request.
Off to a theme park!
He dunt look dissimilar to me as a babbee….
….I were a podgy little f_cker n’all
Off to Glastonbury 😊
Only 6 more weeks until I fuck off to Bloodstock for 5 days. Genuinely can’t wait, line-up’s absolutely mental.
Played my first quiz league match yesterday and it went really well – my team won both our games and I got 30 points over the two, so I’m very happy with that!
Also I’m now off work until Tuesday, and my boyfriend is moving in with me tomorrow! It’s the first time I’ve lived with anyone for four years, which is a little daunting, but honestly I’m so excited for us to be living together and starting the next part of our lives.
So I’m spending my last day of solo living watching the cricket highlights, taking some stuff to my storage unit, and then going to the Natural History Museum this afternoon to see their wildlife photography exhibition before popping in to a colleague’s leaving drinks and then heading off to my board games meetup. All in all, a very good week.

Just had a lovely poo.
Absolutely storming through the hoarder house! We’ve cleared downstairs (both reception rooms and the hallway) and battered our way upstairs. Bathroom and upstairs hallway are clear (sounds a bit special forces, felt like it too), and we’re now able to stand inside the two upstairs rooms that were previously inaccessible. I think we’ll fill two more maxi skips by the end of the week, and then it should be in a reasonable place to make sure it’s safe and secure.
Pretty chuffed as a professional service would have costs thousands, excluding the cost of the skips. All the photos and sentimental bits we were hoping to find are completely unscathed, and without going into detail, I think we’re past the worst of the unpleasant surprises (at some point, the stairs had got blocked off and the bathroom was no longer accessible, so the downstairs rooms were pretty awful, on top of being waist-deep in actual household rubbish). Upstairs has two rooms that are shoulder and head-high, but it’s mostly unopened boxes, household junk and dry rubbish like cardboard boxes, so really not too bad at all. And so far I’ve only found one dead rat in the house, and it was at least fresh enough I could pick it up by the tail and lob it in a bin, so could have been much worse.
Cautiously happy with a job interview I had.
It was a conversation rather than a rigid style of interview.
Cross your fingers for me, please!
Couple of small lottery wins. I’ve been getting quite a few of these lately. Nothing exciting, but goes towards tickets for next week.
Heating issues turned out to be an easy fix. The guy who came round yesterday explained the problem I’d been experiencing over the winter, and it turned out the reason I’d been getting much hotter water the last couple of months was because the boiler had been turned up to max! I didn’t even realise as I’d never touched the thing, but the timing would coincide with the last annual inspection. I guess that engineer turned it up as part of his checks, and forgot to turn it back down after.
I’m counting the Egyptian geese having more babies as a win too. Fingers crossed in a few weeks I’ll be able to mark seeing them grow up as another win.
KFC, I could do with a win.
Decided to leave earlier than planned, jic, and made it to the vet juuuust in time for the cat to have her monthly constitutional. There was a 3 car fender bender on the main route. In rush hour. No-one hurt, but that damage to the bonnet and back end of the middle car is not going to buff out.
4 hours of broken sleep last night and new features to get written this week
Normally I slack off on a day where I slept like shit the night before because all I do is have to unravel my crap the following day. But today I need to try and plod through the work and make progress.
After going over on my ankle a couple of months ago and taking it easy with lifting at the gym since them, I’m getting closer to pre-injury weights again so feeling pretty good about that! Also, the bit of rain we’ve had this week has proved that I’d successfully managed to connect up the water butt!
Two days in this shit hole to get through then I’m fucking off to London for the weekend to see Iron Maiden. Unspeakable levels of excitement.
Got some feedback on some short stories I’ve written and sent to an author group I give/get feedback from.
First bit to quote:
> OK I’ve read this now. SIGNIFICANT improvement in the prose and characterization across the board.
(Yes they’re USA/AU/NZ based as well as UK)
Some good feedback on 1-2 of the stories and 1 that is 50/50 right now (because its based around Cricket, which apparently no one likes!).
Plan is now to get some more feedback whilst reconstructing the 1-2 that need the work on it and think about the 3rd one. I’ve also got a novella on the slow burner (early days – only 2-3 chapters in) just to help keep my mind fresh – the short stories are absurdist sci-fi and the novella is absurdist fantasy.
In other news, I can now confidently run/jog for 15 minutes straight at 9kmh. I think next week I’ll either move to 9.5kmh or go to 16-17 minutes.
Boss has decided that I’ve done a bang up job the past month (been alone on my department due to others holidays and nothing caught fire) so I’m getting a couple of free days off to recharge my brain before diving into a massive project. Just got to get through the next two days.
Wife and I’s older model phones are dying (depleted battery life + new Android update = bad times). Jumped onto our service providers website late last night to have a look at whats available, managed to bag two new Samsung S25’s plus two free Samsung tablets for only an extra £7 a month each. The deal closed at midnight so just got in on time and the phones will be delivered today!
Thats a WINSday if I every had one!
Started my first OMAD fast on Monday night. Ran a 10K this morning. Don’t feel too bad either!
Last night’s event went well, especially when it was my first venture into one of our offices for well over a month. Thankfully, the next event isn’t for a few months too!
I’ve got tomorrow and Friday off which i’m going to say is much deserved, even if i’ve only completed one full working week in the last ten due to various leave.
The things I made on Friday have passed quality control inspection and can be shipped off to America. Woohoo!
Sold my car the other day to WBAC. They offered (and actually paid) more than anyone else by a considerable margin
Just seen the car on auto trader for considerably less than I sold it…
Win for me.
