This is less about credible threats (Russia can’t deal with a neighbour, let alone NATO for many years) and more about drumming up business for the defence industry, both ours and the US, they talk about spending and not capability. We need stuff to show for the money, not a big black hole to tip money down. We spend 60billion a year already and don’t have great deal to show for it. Sort out wastage, have a plan which doesn’t involve bunging blank cheques at BAE Systems. Spend the money wisely have some capability for it at the end.
