Does anyone have any idea why these four province flags are up? I’ve seen a load of them around the country over the past few months. (Sorry not the best photo)

Something to do with the rugby Six Nations maybe.
Have been wondering the same. Random lampposts around the place in South Dublin, even seen them in Wexford aswell. all seem to be the same flag, never any bigger.
No idea but I have noticed several up around Galway and saw one outside Heuston Station a few weeks ago. There was one up outside the hospital in Galway but it disappeared a few weeks ago. I noticed them months ago and me and my colleagues at work have been trying to figure out the mystery since. Ha glad someone else has noticed and questioning what’s going on. Hopefully we 2ill get some answers
Have spotted a good few around Athlone recently.
The Northerner’s are coming! Run for your lives, Reunification is at hand!
They had the 4 individual provincial flags up on the flag poles around O’Connell Bridge some time in the last week or so. Was wondering wtf they were doing up. Paddy’s Day is long over, as is the Six Nations.
Was thinking more a united ireland thing. Could be wrong
I’m loving the fact that someone out there is thinking that they are making some great important point putting these flags up and are really proud of themselves, and not a single person has a clue what they are about…
I thought they were just left over from Paddys Day and people weren’t arsed to take them down.
I don’t know but someone will definitely think of a nefarious reason for it.
The promotion of this? = Éire Nua envisaged an all-Ireland republic that would be created when the British withdrew from Northern Ireland. It also involved the dissolution of the existing Republic of Ireland, which many republicans considered an illegitimate entity imposed by the British in 1922. Under Éire Nua, Ireland would become a federal state with parliaments for each of its four historic provinces, as well as a central parliament based in Athlone.[2]
The purpose of the federal structure was twofold. Firstly, it was intended to show unionists in Northern Ireland that they would have some kind of self-government in a united Ireland. This would be achieved by the provision of a parliament, Dáil Uladh, for Ulster.
These go up before the easter rising comemerations in the North.
