Three separate events planned around town to help raise funds for local societies

Chilliwack’s firefighters and volunteers will be firing up the breakfast grills and the barbecues this Canada Day, by donation.

There are a few events planned in locations across the city that folks can enjoy.

Sardis Kiwanis also is hosting their annual Canada Day Breakfast at Evergreen Hall (9291 Corbould St.). That event runs from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., and the Kiwanis members will be serving up pancakes, sausage, coffee and juice. All proceeds for this breakfast go to the Special Olympics.

The Chilliwack Fire Department is hosting its annual Canada Day pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Hall 1 (45950 Cheam Ave.). The breakfast includes pancakes, eggs and sausage, and is by donation (minimum $5) with all proceeds going to the Chilliwack Firefighters Charitable Society. At the fire hall, people will be able to check out fire trucks, test out fire hoses and more.

The Chilliwack River Valley Firefighters Society is also gearing up for a fun Canada Day, with a celebration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Chilliwack River Valley Fire Hall, at 48685 Chilliwack Lake Road. Kids will be invited to check out the fire truck, and even spray the fire hose.

The crew there will be handing out hot dogs, chips and pop by donation.
