  1. While ridiculous and hilarious, fairly sure that Dutch kid was denied entry because he also had photos of a homemade pipe and weed on his phone too

  5. What a timeline we live in. That meme was spreading in a lot of conservative circles initially. Akin to taking the piss out of someone you like. It’s funny it’s gone full circle and can now get you banned from entering the US.

Probably an unpopular opinion or whatever, and in the grand scheme of things it is not all that important, but I really hate that we have to make someone stereotypically ugly to express disagreement/mock them. JD Vance with his full head of hair, and comparatively thin is a piece of shit. His not being bald, or fat does not change that. All this does is remind people who happen to be bald or fat or just not conventionally attractive that the world generally agrees you are hideous and that your physicality is good stand in for all things negative.

  12. The irony is JD Vance came to Europe to lecture us about freedom of speech. So you could legitimately argue that this type of social media mocking is fully endorsed by him.

  22. It’s worth noting that the US has done this sort of thing for years primarily to folks who aren’t white.

    The most notable thing isn’t that this is happening, it’s that it’s happening to more people and different people than usual.

    It’s important to remember that most of the awful things you hear about the US doing to it’s own people happened or happen most frequently to poor Black and POC folks.
