  12. According to a thread on the Norwegian sub, he was admitting to legal Marijuana use in new Mexico. Since this was federal authorities, that made it illegal in their eyes, or some such. Which I guess makes kind of sense even if it’s weird.

    The reason this was newsworthy, was that they commented on the memes, in some fashion. Which is also weird.

  15. Why does the US government think making a wooden pipe is a reason to not allow a person in the country? If you taken drugs in the past which a large part of the population has, what does that have to do with entering the country? This just screams to the rest of the world do not travel to the US for pleasure or business. I can’t believe how many billions they are losing in business and holiday travel so unnecessarily and this isn’t just this year. It for many years to come.

  16. Ok sure, let’s say it was because he tried weed in Germany and Mexico a couple of times, that still doesn’t explain the cruelty.

    They strip searched him, took a blood sample (!), fingerprints and facial scan.

    Then locked him up for 5 hours without any food or water and ultimately put him back on a plane to Norway.

    If his “drug use” was an issue, why not just deny him entry and put him back on the next plane immediately?

    Why humiliate and terrorise this guy first, just to then turn him away anyway?

  17. Regardless of where you go, border cops provide the worst experience of international travel.

    It’s a great job for the officious and xenophobic, as arbitrary irrational enforcement is perfectly legal and even rewarded.

    Still, it seems to be getting worse when entering the US because the worst of those behaviors are being even more actively encouraged by the regime. Petty aggressiveness makes the staff feel like defenders of the fatherland.

    I don’t understand why anyone today would choose to visit the US for pleasure. If the US rolls out a red carpet for you, it will be because your blood is on it.

  25. I can’t fathom why someone would put himself through the hoops of US border checks, given that they have always been nasty and this is just a worsening.

    Reports of these abuses have circulated for months now. If you still decide to visit that nasty country, it’s on you.

    There is a whole wide world of countries where they don’t invade your privacy and treat you like shit.

  26. As an American who didn’t vote for this shit, and is trying to do something, anything about it, please avoid this place at all costs. I was of the opinion even a few years ago we were a 3rd-world country with fancy clothes; but now we are fully an authoritarian dystopia.

    They are pushing the limits of what is “normal” so they can eventually normalize abject horror.
