Tory MP Steve Baker shares paper denying climate crisis

  1. A fervent hard brexiter and a climate change denier…I wonder if he is a flat earther too.

  2. I just wish decent MPs like him, albeit the very few of him, would leave the tories and offer me an actual alternative party. No green taxes etc.

  3. The only people who should be voting for these Tory cunts are those who are millionaires and those who have gills to breathe when the sea level rises because of their selfishness and stupidity when it comes to clear climate facts.

  4. There’s a thread on here where everyone’s moaning about the climate protesters, the country seems to have made up its mind already and no significant party will do even 10% of what is required to make things better.

We’re all screwed but there are a few dudes making a shitload of money so swings and roundabouts.

  5. Not another muppet in the Conservative party. Do they have any intelligent/non-corrupt/Russian funded/non self serving people in their party?

  6. Claims to rely on the scientists, but shares non-peer reviewed report by pretty much the only scientist with that opinion.

  7. a singular paper that is denying the climate crisis isnt a “aha see its not real” WHEN THERE IS THOUDSANDS SAYING OTHERWISE

  8. The author of this paper (*How much has the Sun influenced Northern Hemisphere temperature trends? An ongoing debate*) has 140 publications in this area, a lifetime’s work, which have been cited by nearly 5000 other papers. He’s been doing research in climate change at a respectable university, specifically paleoclimatology involving glaciers, since the 1970s.

I wonder if those credentials mean anything to writers at the Guardian?

Edit. The responses to this post illustrate the folly of responding to any misinformation posted on the subject of climate change. Once the headline is posted, views are fixed and nobody bothers to read the source material, or develop their own opinion. People are so easy to manipulate. The sad thing is, the downvoters are the ones who suffer most from the misinformation.

  9. This reminds me of when AIDS denialists cited the (very very wrong) Dr. Peter Duesberg (“HIV is harmless”) to justify not taking AIDS medication—rather than the approximately 50,000+ mainstream scientists who considered HIV the cause of AIDS and supported standard of care treatments (which I always remind people never stands still but instead improves with every passing year, even to this day.)

Most humans see what they wish to see, or expect to see, rather than what is.

  10. This man is a ghoul and a large part of the reason why this country is going to utter shite – he and the rest of the 1922 committee have Boris over a barrel and they push the most unhinged, death-cult bullshit, anything to prevent there being any change or god forbid this country get a little better.

He needs to go, as soon as humanly possible. And can he please take Jacob Rees Mogg and Nadine Dorries with him.

  11. The Conservatives are extremely dangerous! A national security threat to England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland!..The people that don’t believe this are either on the take or is mentally unstable! (…propaganda)

  12. Whereas other Tory MPs are just quietly apathetic about climate change and will just advocate for doing the least amount possible to seem like they care about the future of the planet.

  13. This guy’s seat is winnable at the next election if the Greens, LibDems, and Labour parties don’t split the opposition vote.

Wycombe folk, remember to vote tactically at the next election.

  14. Good, about time someone stood up publicly against the hysteria of the climate extremists. The whole thing has been anti-capitalist and anti-human nonsense from day 1.

  15. Steve Baker, one of the most senior members of the European Research Group, and therefore one of the key figures driving this country’s policies.

  16. >The empirical observations I have reviewed show very gentle warming and no evidence of a climate crisis.

Having met with the patient and being unable to observe any so called “virus” I believe the symptoms are a result of an excess of Coleric Humours.

  17. The rate we are going, our politicians will be worse than the US in a few years, and that’s saying something
