1. My salute to someone who dares speak the truth inside Russia. If I could, I’d give him a citizenship, but he’s old and will more than likely die one way or another.

10. He’s a well-known soviet era dissident Alexander Skobov, who was already imprisoned TWICE during USSR 80s, and now for third time under this regime.

    Now he almost completely lost eyesight, but continues writing letters from prison. His character is said to be quite unbending. He bravely and boldly proclaimed “Glory to Ukraine” before trial, and stays firm.

13. The man is 67 and will be 83 when released, if he survives as it says his health is in decline since arrested. He got sent to the mental hospital by the Soviets 2 times for his pro-democracy activism. He openly supported Ukraine since the invasion. Now they have sentenced him as a terrorist.

14. I thought the sentence was too harsh based on the title, but when you read the article, it states that he was writing out locations/ coordinates to strike within Russian, including Crimea. He was also charged with ‘association with a terrorist community’, so im assuming he was part of a message board, suspected to be used by the SBU.

    I’m sure if the roles were reversed and this was a dissident leaking information about an EU country while wishing death on their nation, that person would do some prison time as well.

15. A minority, a mad man objectively speaking.

    Russia doesn’t have any opposition. The turnout in its 2024 presidential elections was 77.49%. Basically everyone went to the polls despite knowing full well that Putin is going to win regardless. They still decided not to boycott. And of those 77.49 who still decided to go vote, most voted for putin. Whether it was 51% or 88% doesn’t matter. They still have faith in their system.

    If you want to see a country where you can have any grain of actual sympathy for its people, Iran’s latest turnout was 49% for presidential and 40 (!) for legislative elections. A supermajority (!!) practically doesn’t even bother at this point.

    Also, the difference is that Russians had videogames, cars, Internet, movies, business, travel (well, those who could afford it) – they only lost that now., Yet they still decided to invade another country and go along with it, for money.

    Sure, it’s nice that there are good Russians, but they don’t matter.
