From my far-left perspective: Macron is wrong, Le Pen is evil. There’s a big difference.

I think the people freaking out at them need to understand something, for the French left, they don’t see it as a bad vs far worse Biden vs Trump scenarios for Sanders supporters, they see it as both equally terrible, and bit worth engaging in.
I’m not sure I think they’re right, but this idea that they’re stupidly letting the side they hate more potentially win isn’t accurate, they hate both equally, and in polling are basically 50/50 in the second round.
The fact that far right candidate might become president should be a real wake up call that something is fucked up and the people in power have really been ignoring the people for too long.
Didn’t they hardly get any votes? Is this a real loss for anybody?

The polling is flawed, and the true situation may be worse. Said poll only offered the options of Macron or abstain, it didn’t allow for people that vote Le Pen. The article said this in the text (and cited a better designed poll that did account for this), even if the headline did not.
Something important to understand: the consultation is only with the members of Melanchon’s party. They don’t represent all the people who voted for Melanchon at the first round (and he did 21%).
According to polls, Melanchon’s voters will:
– Vote Macron at 33%
– Vote Lepen at 18%
– Abstain / vote blank at 49%
Macron has got to go, or france will never recover
The data comes from the party’s website where you can choose for “blank” or “macron”. As the leader kept saying “give no vote to LePen”.
So it is just sensational bs.
French are Europe’s americans.
I’m not French but I supported Melenchon and I wouldn’t vote for these useless candidates. Le Pen is obviously bad and Macron is a major danger to poor and middle class. So overall it’s the right call.
