Sounds like the only WW2 Italian soldier that didn’t surrender.
The one Italian that doesn’t side switch and he is from Somalia.
Ok, give *that* man citizenship.
Could you imagine any other colonial territory doing this for their overlord? Of course not, we are just universally loved
It was the same for the German colonial troops during the WW1 East African campaign. The Vets went looking for pensions from West Germany (Or West Germany went to them to offer pensions I can’t remember) and could still perform all the old drills they were taught to the letter.
Only loyal Italian soldier
To be fair, I’m pretty sure many agreed with him privately
At the hotel I manage I’m slowly replacing all the Pilipinos bellboys porters and maids with Somalis bellboys, porters and maids.
They work harder, faster, need much less directions, are way more disciplined, don’t backtalk and are very grateful I treat them as human beings (not unlike their previous employer).
I ordered them not to call me ‘boss’ but by my first name.
I am fighting with the property in order to give my hotel Ascaris a fully deserved raise.
Some decades of Luigi colonization beats centuries of Pedro slavery and a bunch of years of Hank servilism.
Viva Somalia.
(The comment is ironic. Pilipinos are much worse than it appears.)
