I just don’t see how Russia would ever bother to attack Finland and Sweden in the first place. Not sure why there is a fear there. If the Soviets didn’t attack them when they were neutral, who were far more powerful relatively speaking compared to Russia today, what is all the fuss about. The only way they would get involved in a war is by being nuked if WW3 was to ever break out.
I think the plan for Sweden is to be ready for Madrid in June as well.
Reading the article I do not see much information to back up the chosen title. So I’d say that in my opinion the title is a bit misleading or even sensationalist.
As noted in the article Finland pans to get it’s policy overview done a few weeks earlier than Sweden but even Sweden has, if it so desires, enough time to apply for membership before the NATO summit. So it is not decided that “they would pursue different paths” as the titles tries to suggest. They might, but we don’t know yet.
And there we have it, folks! The bidaily highly speculative piece on Swe/Fin NATO membership!
Tl;dr: Each country will decide for themselves, decision to be expected within a month or two.
Would be fun if the announced they’ll join NATO (at different speeds) on May 9th…

Sweden is going to regret wasting time
