12. What you need to understand: If Russia declares war, the Russian military will also be in a state of war which drastically changes how things like military recruitment is handled. Right now, it is possible to not go to Ukraine as a young Russian man because there is officially no war. That’s also why the Russian military has this massive marketing campaign to get people to sign up for the „special military operation“ in Ukraine. In a war, they could simply forcefully draft anyone they want.
