This is why rail, gas, electricity and water should be social but run as a privately business.
TFL for example.
Are transmission/distribution costs a percentage of the bill or a fixed price?
This article doesn’t help things talking about suppliers when National Grid isn’t a supplier.
That’s why I’ll be switching off at the mains on Saturday at 7 pm. If u don’t know why a quick Google will answer your questions much better than I can. I’ll probably do it more and more as well. Its the only way I feel I can protest at what they r doing to us, which is, making profit.
With none of it to be used for improvements to the network, as is the way when it comes to increased profits. We will pay for a system that is only getting older and more worn out, one that will struggle to meet increased demands as time goes by.
Silly article. National Grid’s profits are higher because the returns of its regulated assets are linked to inflation
Electricity costs are a small part of its opex (and not a significant part of its revenue at all) so if anything rising electricity costs are negative to its P&L
There is a lot to complain about privatisation of UK utilities but this is such a red herring
And those that can pay will shame anyone protesting.

And when they say that they are losing money, they get bailed out by the taxpayer. It’s win/win for them.
Is it actually privatized? I thought it was a quango?
And Nikola Tesla wanted to make electricity free.
If we know his plans, in this day and age we could probably make our own electricity in our homes for ourselves.
