Greece, N.Y. — The Greece Town Court has been renamed in honor of former Town Supervisor John T. Auberger.

A special unveiling ceremony was held to commemorate the occasion, recognizing Auberger’s contributions to the town, including his leadership in consolidating town services into one campus and relocating and expanding the town court to its current location.

During the ceremony, Auberger expressed gratitude for the support he received from his family throughout his public service career.

“Those of us in public service, especially those who have been elected public service, need to have some support from the family cause you’re not around,” said Auberger. “Those of us who had to run municipalities, you also have the events at night and on the weekend and your family suffers because you’re not around but they are supportive. And I’d like to say thank you to most of my family members who are here today.”

The renaming is memorialized with a special plaque at the front of the courthouse.
