The Atacama Desert in Chile is one of the driest places on Earth. But on Thursday, June 27, workers at the ALMA space observatory in the desert woke up to a rare and beautiful site – the normally arid landscape blanketed in snow. Scientists say that climate change means such rare events are likely to become increasingly common in the Atacama.
