Violent storms rip through Paris • FRANCE 24 English

as lightning tore the sky over Paris on Wednesday evening no one expected what was to follow [Music] gale force winds of over 100 kilometers per hour both devastating and deafening [Music] tourists had just moments to seek shelter as the capital’s postcard views disappeared amid the sheeting rain and murky storm the metro provided no shelter at all when visibility returned a few minutes later some people realized what a narrow escape they’d had like the owner of this car crushed by falling branches we heard the noise and it fell just behind us we were inside the car my wife cried a lot afterwards she’s traumatized and the cars totalled roads in the south of Paris flooded fast slowing vehicles to a crawl and it wasn’t easy on foot either especially for those making their way out of Paris’s chic hotels in a dress and heels the water got in almost everywhere including the French Parliament [Applause] as the storm passed calm returned but left people shaken in its wake everything happened so fast luckily we got the shutter down which saved a lot of people including myself so we’re okay for now by Thursday morning the damage was clear for all to see city workers were cleaning up across the capital as businesses took stock and wondered what the future would bring we tried to clean up as best we could we contacted the authorities so they could come and get rid of the branches and leaves and so on now we’re just waiting to see firefighters were called out more than 230 times across the Paris region but despite the storm’s violence no one here lost their life

Torrential rains and ferocious winds flying upwards of 100 kilometers per hour ripped through Paris on Wednesday evening, flooding the subway system, uprooting trees, and even leaking into the French Parliament building.

  1. Was at a gathering but was indoors, but half were outside and we saw them all bolt in. We knew there would be storms but didn't realize how quickly it would go from 0 to 100, and then back to 0.

  2. Effects of Climate change. I think this should be the focal point of humanity right now. But sadly people still says climate change is just an hoax. 😢

  3. Omg 😱 french are traumatized crying from a tree fall on their car ! But people of Gaza what falls on their head ? Hypocrite french

  4. Like Frances silence while children die, the silence is deafening.
So sad, can't vacation comfortably while others starve.
Trauma, ya so your alive, be thankful.
Macron, maybe you should condem the storms for being terrorists…
Material things can be replaced, lives cannot.

  5. wait for it some inbred muppet is going to come on here and say climate change is not real… cos instead of facing up to their personal contribution to climate change its easier for them to deny their own guilt and to keep abusing their own kids future! cos all narcissists are the same…. me me me me ..

  6. Rik is a legend. from the classic cult series "the young ones" (also spawned a no'1 hit), to many down. Rip dude. You brought me a smile on my face for over 30years.

  7. Good! Don't be going around poking women and girls with needles for your meanness and your wickedness. God our Father isn't a fan of that! It's a no! no! Is He going to have to shake the entire earth and knock it off it's axes before some of you get with the program and start behaving yourselves and stop serving the enemy of our souls? Repent now! ♾

  8. Scary. There were strong winds a few weeks ago but not like this. This was most likely a Derecho (a line of damaging hurricane force winds)

  9. This sort of wild, unpredictable storms seem to be happening more often than like 20 years ago. I’m UK-based and I see the change in climate in the past two decades here, as well as in Korea, where I was born. It’s scary how things are changing.
