And why working class people continue to vote for these cunts baffles me.
Cancel Netflix and stop buying lattes, that should fix it
At that point its bad budgeting.
From some (very) rough maths, £106k pa is a takehome of about £5600 a month.
Even assuming a mortgage on a £500k house (~£2000 a month, assuming mortgage payments scale roughly linearly with the value of the property), travel costs of £1500 (based on a monthly season ticket from Nottingham to London, which I looked up previously for a similar discussion, so its probably more like 1600 now), council tax of £250 a month (pulled out of my arse, but intentionally a bit high), utility bills of £150 a month, same again for phone and Internet, and £200 for food that comes to about £4250. Now, it’s most likely possible to spend £1350 a month on socialising in London, but still.
Be fair, do you know how much the average Tory politician has to pay each month for wine, cake and fines?
He needs to cut out all that drug taking and employing high end prostitutes every day ending in a Y……
I can think of no other reasonable explanation as to how anyone could be worried about money, if on an MP’S salary.
….. Twat.
How the fuck you ending up in an overdraft with 5 grand a month ? That’s just fiscally irresponsible.
Dickhead should be sacked, clearly can’t make sensible choices.
Why do they say this? What are they expecting to happen?
Just be honest, “yes I’m paid well, and have no money worries unlike millions of others”
He also went to a £16k pa private secondary school, suggesting his family were very comfortable when he was younger. Therefore, I think it’s reasonable of me to say he hasn’t got the first clue what real poverty is like.
He’s basically showing a bit of ankle for the guys who hand out brown paper bags full of cash.
The thing about That Sort Of Person is that they’re just incapable of budgeting. They’ll spunk it all away on avocados and lattes and such. I bet he’s got a new car, a fridge and a flat screen TV too, AND a bottle of wine on a Friday!
He just needs to set a budget and stick to it, rein in the luxuries a bit and live a little more modestly. For example, a bag of pasta is about 50p, and that might last several days. He could batch cook it and freeze it, even.
If he’s really struggling, he could take a more drastic approach and just pull himself up by his bootstraps, that seems to work.
Then cut out the expensive champaigne, second homes etc…. If he can’t get by on 106k per year then he is a fucking moron.
>James was appointed **Minister for Defence Procurement** on 16 December 2019, having previously served as **Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Prime Minister.**
Apparently he claimed almost 30k in mostly accommodation expenses on top. That’s huge amount, he nets similar to someone earning over 150k because of this. Otherwise I’d be trying to think if he genuinely can struggle (with mortgage, kids, London prices, pension contribution,…), but like this I just think he’s stupid with handling money.
The thing is, if he’s worried about that and earns that, what’s it like for people earning LESS?
He needs to cancel those avocado gym subscriptions.
Do you people have any idea how much coke and hookers cost in London these days?!
This is the sort of person who could benefit from those tone deaf suggestions from energy companies and Kirsty Allsopp. If you earn that much and still skirt close to your overdraft every month then you are clearly bad with your money and have plenty of areas to cut back on. Those on minimum wage or on benefits would kill to only have to worry about the possibility of dipping into their overdraft. Many are far beyond that point and have only been vilified by the Tories for that.
That’s a you problem. Perhaps he should lay off the caviar on toast?
Spend less and live within your means then you cretinous cunt.
Poor Mr. Heappey – only went and got a £2,200 pay rise two weeks ago too. Perhaps we ought to organise a fundraiser to support him during his financial hardships, maybe even send a bag of pasta or two to his constituency address to ensure he can continue to feed himself during these troubling times!
I, earning 20k a year, am worried I won’t ever get out my overdraft again.
Sounds like someone has a cocaine and hooker habit.
Introducing James Heappey the next Chancellor of the Exchequer
If he’s earning £106k a year and living pay cheque to pay cheque what’s he doing in the Tory party?! I thought they were all about fiscal responsibility?
Hey that’s my MP. Leave him alone!
…actually he’s a total dick.
For the love of god, all gods, including all the Hindu ones too, can we please vote these fuckers out in the next general election!!
Anyone who has listened to the clip and has more than two brain cells can see this wasn’t meant literally.
The reaction in this thread is laughably predictable, and utterly pathetic.
You’re not endearing yourselves to the voters you need to win over. You’re doing the opposite.
Pick your shots ffs.
I appreciate that 106K a year is an unfathomable amount for most on this sub, but people don’t realize that it doesn’t even put you in the upper middle class.
The fight should not be between people that earn 20K and people that earn 100K, it should be between people that don’t earn billions and those that do.
WTF, I earn less than a 1/3rd of that and have savings every month. These idiots don’t deserve that money.
People who can’t budget should not be the ones deciding what happens to the nations money
Is this just to try and relate to regular folk?
I’m not surprised at the headline, earning 10k, 100k or 1mil doesn’t mean you are financially responsible, stable, or smart.
People generally live to thier means. You pay a man that much, he will have a suitably large house / car / holidays / schools until he lives paycheck to paycheck.
Because he’s so financially responsible and good with money/the economy?
They’re good, responsible “stewards of the economy” right? RIGHT?
From the “people need to live within their means” party.
Wonder what it’s like for the rest of us, you stone cold cunt.
If my income was was 106k. My partner wouldn’t need to work, and we’re have 30k spare each year… These people are so out of touch is unreal.
Maybe he should skip the avacado toast and fancy coffee
