EXCLUSIVE: Chancellor Rishi Sunak’s mystery loan to firm then handed Covid furlough cash

  1. Should be illegal to report on an upstanding citizen simply acting in the best interests of this proud nation.

Shame on the mirror for painting this saintly jewel of a man in anything short of an angelic light.

I for one, will be mailing extra money to Sunak and his completely moral and ethical wife because they are of a kind greater than I can ever be and therefore deserve it more.

God bless the Tories. God bless king-emperor Johnson. And may God send every poor brown person to die in a Rwandan migrant camp, as they deserve by providence of their birthright. Amen.

  2. I wonder how long it’ll take Rishi to realise most of these leaks are coming from Camp Boris to make sure he doesn’t get more popular and not from labour or momentum.

  3. Imagine being the only Tory mp that has had all of his dodgy dealings exposed, probably by his own party . That scared a person of Indian heritage is more popular than big dog. I suppose he’s lucky his office has not been moved to a hotel in Rwanda

  4. The article doesn’t back up the headline and I’m all for baching people when they’ve done wrong, but this is really clutching at straws to cobble together an empty article and waters down any real problems.

    > Mr Sunak and his wife founded Catamaran Ventures in 2013 and lent the company money to invest in UK businesses. He quit as a director in 2015, when he was elected as an MP
    >
    > She told officials the loan was “transferred” to her in 2015 but admitted the next three accounts had not made this “clear”.

Companies House documents should be accurate, but this sort of thing isn’t unknown and happens quite often.

The headline implies he lent money to a company which also claimed furlough money. Firstly that’s not relevant anyway, furlough was the Government repaying companies for PAYE to furlough employees so shouldn’t be relevant as any company who qualified could claim.

More importantly the article states “Catamaran has invested in firms which claimed furlough cash.” which means their company, an investment company, had investments in companies that had furloughed staff during the pandemic.

  5. So our newspapers can be useful and call out corruption, imagine if they were actually on our side

It’s not just the politicians it’s the press not doing their Job

  6. So the true reason, which many already guessed, why COVID relief fraud is not being chased has now come out.
