President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine will continue efforts to strengthen relations with Poland, especially in the context of the change of leadership in the Polish state. He made this statement during a meeting with Polish President Andrzej Duda in Kyiv on June 28.

“Poland is preparing for the inauguration of the new president, Nawrocki. We will do everything in our power to ensure that the relations between our countries only grow stronger.”

Zelensky expressed gratitude to Andrzej Duda for the ongoing dialogue and support for Ukraine, as well as for his contribution to the development of defense cooperation between the countries.

“In recent months, significant Ukrainian-Polish agreements in the defense sector have been implemented. I hope that by the end of this half-year, together we will take another meaningful step forward.”

The President of Ukraine stressed the importance of maintaining close dialogue with Poland and confirmed his readiness to invite the new Polish president to Ukraine, as well as to respond positively to invitations to Warsaw.

Andrzej Duda, in turn, expressed confidence that the joint efforts of Ukraine and Poland will contribute to strengthening relations between the peoples.

Presidential Elections in Poland: Key Facts

On May 18, the first round of the presidential elections took place in Poland, in which Trzaskowski received 31.36% of the votes, and Nawrocki – 29.54%. Mencin, having gained 14.81%, was eliminated from the race.

On June 1, the second round of elections was held, where citizens chose between Rafał Trzaskowski from the “Civic Platform” and Karol Nawrocki from “Law and Justice,” who received the highest number of votes in the first round.

According to official results, Karol Nawrocki won 50.89% of the votes, while Rafał Trzaskowski received 49.11%. Voter turnout was 71.63%.

Earlier, according to exit polls, Warsaw’s mayor Rafał Trzaskowski was leading with 50.3% of the votes, while Karol Nawrocki had 49.7%.
