Pretty sure the 5-Alarm catastrophe started on Jan 20th.
The MAGA cult wants to decide who ‘qualifies’ as a citizen.
And it obviously doesn’t have anything to do with the constitution.
Might as well go ahead and shred the Constitution, seeing as how words no longer have any meaning.
What should be next is full “”Ghandi Mode”. Passive resistance on a societal and protracted level.
Corporations & Billionaires are at the heart of this Christo-Fascist power nexus. Disrupting the US Economy is essentially a junk punch to those entities.
The only thing these monsters in power will listen to is a General Strike. A large majority have to agree to stop showing up at work. Stop shopping for malarkey you don’t need. Talk to your neighbors, learn how to garden/grow your own food. Be HUMAN, not a cog in the damn machine.
So being born in the US no longer qualifies you for citizenship, your parents had to be citizens. But your parents being born in the US no longer qualifies them as citizens, their parents had to be citizens. Taking it back to the extreme, unless you can prove that either you or your ancestors were naturalized, how do you qualify? Heck, if your people were here before the revolution they were never naturalized. Likewise if they were Native American. And if they were enslaved there was the 14th Amendment but now it doesn’t count, so who knows? Maybe there are no US citizens.
Can we claim asylum in another country now?
“Barrett, and the rest of her Republican colleagues, determined that nationwide injunctions cannot be used in 2025 to stop a president from violating the Constitution of the United States, because the High Court in England—which existed during a time of hereditary monarchy—did not use a historical equivalent of a nationwide injunction to enforce the laws against [checks notes] their King.”
They seriously want a king
Great, Dred Scott 2.0
In her dissent, Jackson ripped off the mask off conservatism and exposed it for what it is:
“Stated simply, what it means to have a system of government that is bounded by law is that everyone is constrained by the law, no exceptions. And for that to actually happen, courts must have the power to order everyone (including the Executive) to follow the law—full stop. To conclude otherwise is to endorse the creation of a zone of lawlessness within which the Executive has the prerogative to take or leave the law as it wishes, and where individuals who would otherwise be entitled to the law’s protection become subject to the Executive’s whims instead.”
This rings strangely reminiscent of Wilhoit’s Law:
Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit:
There must be in-groups whom the law protectes but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.]
….
As the core proposition of conservatism is indefensible if stated baldly, it has always been surrounded by an elaborate backwash of pseudophilosophy, amounting over time to millions of pages. All such is axiomatically dishonest and undeserving of serious scrutiny. Today, the accelerating de-education of humanity has reached a point where the market for pseudophilosophy is vanishing; it is, as The Kids Say These Days, tl;dr . All that is left is the core proposition itself — backed up, no longer by misdirection and sophistry, but by violence.
***So this tells us what anti-conservatism must be: the proposition that the law cannot protect anyone unless it binds everyone, and cannot bind anyone unless it protects everyone.***
Then the appearance arises that the task is to map “liberalism”, or “progressivism”, or “socialism”, or whateverthefuckkindofstupidnoise-ism, onto the core proposition of anti-conservatism.
No, it a’n’t. The task is to throw all those things on the exact same burn pile as the collected works of all the apologists for conservatism, and start fresh. The core proposition of anti-conservatism requires no supplementation and no exegesis. It is as sufficient as it is necessary. What you see is what you get:
***The law cannot protect anyone unless it binds everyone; and it cannot bind anyone unless it protects everyone.***
Justice Jackson was absolutely right in her dissent. The court has essentially given the president a free pass the break the law as he sees fit, when you add in the immunity ruling and you have an executive that can literally just do whatever it wants until the Court actually decides to take a case about it.
So the long and the short of it is,if your parents were illegal you better find a road map of which states support birthright before you cross the country. Why do I see ICE check points being set up on borders of red states in the near future.
“Papers, show us your papers” as the train rolls into texas
This court has definitely made a mockery of our Constitution. We need to consider some nationwide “No Kingmakers” protests targeted at the democracy-destroying rulings of this court.
Over 25% of your population is illiterate.
That’s approximately 85 million people.
That’s over double the entire population of Canada.
This won’t track for most people. You are in for a long tough ride. Buckle up.
Despite what they all said during their confirmation hearings, the conservative justices have shown themselves more than willing to overturn established law. Precedents mean nothing to them.
This Supreme Court is willing to reinterpret everything, including the Constitution.
I try to not get pissed the fuck off now a days. A lot of my in laws are republican and huge maga supporters, even though my mother in law was illegal until the got married 10 years ago. That means this directly affects my ex-wife who has birthright citizenship. I’ve been telling her what was going on since trump was inaugurated but her step father keeps playing it down. He’s successful I’m not so they listen to him, he keeps saying it’s not that extreme, then it gets that extreme and denies what we see happening. Now I’m called an alarmist and my ex wife/ baby mama won’t talk to me or listen. This ruling squarely puts her in the cross hairs but her step father said it’s not too bad. I feel like a crazy person sometimes just stating facts
How y’all Latinos for Trump feeling now?
You don’t need to be a lawyer to know that SCOTUS just betrayed America and bent the Constitution for a dictator.
Dismantle the god damn Supreme Court
> Trump’s request to do away with universal injunctions, Jackson wrote, “is, at bottom, a request for this Court’s permission to engage in unlawful behavior” and “to continue doing something that a court has determined violates the Constitution.”
> In granting that wish, Jackson wrote, the majority has permitted Trump to act not unlike a monarch, giving “the Executive the go-ahead to sometimes wield the kind of unchecked, arbitrary power the Founders crafted our Constitution to eradicate.”
This is appalling absurdity that will accelerate the annihilation of our democracy.
Amy Coney Barrett and her Republican justices are the villains that history will mark forever as sealing the final nail on the coffin of America.
This is a catastrophe not just for the three hundred million Americans alive today, but for the tens of billions of people across all of human civilization who will live in the aftermath of the collapse of the United States.
We the People simply will not stand for a King. Therefore, the United States will necessarily dissolve.
Nice job Amy Coney Barrett. You and your fellow Republican villains have just unravelled the final foundation that held America together.
– John Roberts
– Clarence Thomas
– Samuel Alito
– Neil Gorsuch
– Brett Kavanaugh
– Amy Coney Barrett.
These are the names that history will forever mark in infamy for the long dark age of misery that is about to befall humanity.
Those of us opposing the move toward authoritarian rule need to file a class action lawsuit against SCOTUS and the trump regime. We go to the world court, we use the inhumane activities of the Nazi Trump Regime, the violation of all our laws and constitution and we charge SCOTUS with financial crimes and crimes against humanity. We have Jack Smith make our case. Without action, we are all well and truly screwed.
If the constitution is pick-and-choose, then it is effectively void.
**Key Impact:** This means “whether or not a child born in America on or after June 27, 2025, is considered a citizen of the United States will depend on what state, or even county, that child happens to be born in.” The Supreme Court’s Birthright Citizenship Ruling Is a 5-Alarm Catastrophe
**Broader Effects:** The ruling affects all Trump policies previously blocked by nationwide injunctions, including those targeting trans children, refugees, and immigrants. Each affected person must now file individual lawsuits rather than benefiting from broader protections.
So SCOTUS said it’s okay to send non-citizen’s to foreign internment camps and now it’s okay to turn birthright citizens into non-citizens.
WOW. That should reduce some traffic congestion.
I am the product of enslaved peoples, violently uprooted from their homelands and denied humanity. And I am an American. Not because of some benevolent legal favor, but because my ancestors were born here.
If the descendants of “property” can be considered American, how can anyone justify denying that same right to anyone born of American soil? On the same land that has been stripped away from a people that have been here long before us?
Folks,
We need to figure out some red-lines and subsequent action plans to get ahead of this goosestep into totalitarian fascism. Such red lines and actions must be very clear and heavily announced and echoed from bottom to top of our most well respected leaders of the opposition.
The way I see it, the only way to stop this is to get ahead of it.
