A bunch of BBC industry 50 year olds who still think Dad’s Army is the best thing sat down in a meeting room and tried to come up with something for the TikTok generation.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they think putting Nick Fucking Grimshaw as a trendy hip presenter is still relevant.
They should have never halved BBCs three budget all those years ago.
Obviously. A quick look at the schedule shows they seem to show nothing but repeats of Eastenders, Repeats of decade old sitcoms, decades old films and ~~transvestites~~ drag queens.
Considering the latter 3 are widely available on streaming services, and Eastenders is on iPlayer, I’m not sure why they expected anyone to actually sit down and watch this.
More proof the youth of today are wrong about everything. Back the good old days we watched what we were told and we liked it that way.
Cut the budget for the only decent BBC channel (BBC 4) to fund this. This Country is the only decent thing to come off BBC 3, the rest is dross.
On BBC1 at present we have 2 cookery competition shows, and a new ‘try to freeze a z list celeb to death’ competition has just started.
Thank God for steeaming and foreign TV.
A broadcast channel targeting a young/teen audience fails to get viewers, well, that’s a surprise.
Maybe BBC Three should just sell its programming rights to Blockbuster video.
Go beg for your next payout from the Tories BBC. We know you love pushing their shit.
Rot.
Not to mention it’s like Channel 50 now where no one will see it casually scrolling through.
Many shows barely get 10,000 viewers and they’re regularly beaten in the ratings by Talking Pictures and GB News.
Embarrassing. Even 30K turn out to watch Sunderland AFC on a wet winters evening.
BBC3 was perfectly fine before they stopped it. Not great, but fine. It clearly had some programming aimed at “younger people”, which I would extend to include anybody under 50 at this point. Some fast humor instead of dementia programming.
But that relaunch is just terrible. Did they even do any market research?
BBC just doubles down on the ideas and opinions it supports and pushes which caused them to lose touch with normal people and fail spectacularly, they never learn 🤷♂️
BBC 3 should’ve become the home of investigative journalism tbh. The various documentaries from different presenters were the best thing they ever aired.
BBC 1 and 2 suffice for lighter entertainment. Let 3 and 4 be deeper.
Well, it’s aimed at a generation that do not watch live TV. Ridiculous idea. Total fucking waste of time and money.
It’s all about streaming now and you tube. Many kids don’t watch traditional tv at all now..
I used to watch BBC3 a bit when I still had a licence. I’m probably not their target audience but they had a few interesting things on. The excellent Orphan Black, and In The Flesh which was an interesting take on zombies (although it seemed to be chasing a few too many metaphors).
Taking it off air may or may not have been a good idea. But bringing it back now is just stupid. Even my mum, in her 80s, watches catchup more than live TV these days.
I’m 33, havent paid the bbc subscription in years and never will again.
Had they used a different company other than capita I might not have such ill will towards them by extension.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. The problem with BBC 3 is that it was designed for experimental shows that no one was sure about. A significant proportion of its content was going to fail to find an audience and that was by design.

The problem is definitely the programming. On its first day I (firmly in its target audience age range) watched it. The launch show was awful, then they showed drag race UK vs the world (great), Mood (not my thing) then repeated drag race. Not the best idea for day 1, and it hasn’t really improved.
They can only blame themselves. Their former viewers are older now and the new generation don’t tend to watch too much traditional TV, opting for Netflix etc.
Most people I know would watch it for Russell Howard’s Good News, followed by Family Guy and a few good comedies also started on there.
Russell Howard is now on Sky, I presume (I don’t have Sky), Family Guy went to ITV and many of the new comedies tend to go to Channel 4.
When this was announced I said it was ridiculous and was downvoted to oblivion. I literally don’t know anyone who watches tv live.
No one under 60 watches live TV anymore. A youth orientated live broadcast is an awful idea in 2022
Because it’s shit and the last time i gave it a chance, it was showing some reality crap. BBC three was good back in the day because it usually had a healthy variety. Russel Howard’s good news, Stacey Dooley, American Dad, Family Guy, sometimes a film etc… Hell, there was a zombie show that was done in a rather unique way and I enjoyed it. It was about where zombies are part of society and if i recall correctly, it was recieved well. Being Human was on there etc..

Nowadays, it’s just generic crap or stuff that most people won’t pay attention to but it’s a BBC issue in general.
I’m young and I don’t find BBC. And I like how on iPlayer you can watch it live and on catch up. Never buffers either. Loads of movies from old classics to new movies
Make good quality programs a sizeable slice of the people want to watch instead of making programs to tick boxes.
Well of course, ITV have family guy and American dad, the only two shows BBC3 was good for.
