  1. Ignoring everything else, what the fuck is this writing? It repeats the exact same set of information about three times, it’s hardly even said in a different way each time.

Did someone get paid to do this? I’d be surprised if this would be considered good writing for an 11 year old. Where does one apply to become a writer there?

  2. Disappointed that reddit isn’t downvoting this to oblivion.

This kind of story only works to scare the UK voters.

  3. People completely missing the point here.

It’s possible to be appalled by these actions and also take an issue with the article.

3 years for sexual assault is an absolute joke considering the victims will have to live with the trauma for their entire lives.

The article should be shared – the public should obviously be informed about this – but it’s the manner in which this has been shared and the language used in the article that people are taking an issue with.

This article is being used as a tool to spread hate and xenephobia to Syrian asylum seekers by claiming the man is here illegally which he isn’t – he is an asylum seeker.

I am not defending this monster I am simply stating facts.

This article will be used as an excuse to target and further dehumanise asylum seekers entering this country legally and who do nothing wrong – which is a large majority.

The daily mail has no problem reporting these stories but they refuse to report the fact that the majority of sexual assault cases in this country occur as part of domestic abuse relationships with white U.K. nationals the perpetrators.

We have a huge problem with sexual assault and violence against women in this country yet the papers are quiet and funding for domestic abuse and womens’ charities is cut the the bone.

Why are people incapable of critical thinking – everything is not one dimensional or black and white – by taking issue with an article you are not condoning sexual assault.

  4. This is why we need more content moderation; on this sub, on Reddit, on social media in general.

I don’t know this case, or this individual, but the narrative is that refugees are good. Anyone who says anything bad about refugees is a racist.

Truth is irrelevant. There’s a duty for decent, upstanding, moral media outlets to keep quiet about this kind of thing, regardless of whether it happened, lest more and more enter the ranks of the far right.
