Several people are hurt after a structure collapsed at a market that was set up in downtown Calgary on Saturday.

Emergency crews were called to Macleod Trail near 8 Avenue SE for reports of people injured around 3 p.m.

Calgary police say eight people, seven adults and one child, were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The structure was set up as part of the Najia Market Day which was running from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday at Municipal Plaza outside Calgary City Hall.

There is no word what caused the temporary structure to collapse.
