Setting aside this was clearly fancy dress and not the Nuremberg rally.
It’s actually a recent change in culture that has made any depiction of Nazism a complete no go. Before then the Nazis were mocked as defeated twats. Think Fawlty towers, only fools and horses, father Ted. The ‘cool kids’ in the 80s wore the swatstika as an ironic ‘fuck the establishment’ symbol.
IDS quoted Auschwitz slogan when talking about how UC should treat the disabled and didn’t have much backlash yet this chap just wore cloth and steps down.

I dunno. On on hand I would say that holding someone accountable for dumb mistakes they made as a kid decades ago is a little bit over the top. I mean that was the 70s or 80s, he might have just walked into a fancy dress shop and that was what was in his size and he thought it would be a bit outrageous and get a few laughs.
