I assume that other countries probably are doing this too, but since I saw this in Germany, thought I’d let you know what I think of the taste as someone of Korean descent.

I had the wings. In short, it’s not bad. Of course, it’s no where near the quality or flavor of actual Korean fried chicken, but it was good enough to eat. And while not 100% authentic, it gets closer than Domino’s with their Korean pizza that did not taste Korean at all.

It’s a soy ginger flavor sauce, but it’s ever obvious that the ginger is not real ginger. And they slightly over did it with the gingeriness. It’s also a little too salty, so also over did it with the soy. The sweetness was right though. The sauce consistency also seems a little more runny than the real stuff. The balance of sauce to chicken might have been better if they offered it with the normal larger chicken pieces.

I do hope this leads to Korean Fried Chicken becoming more well known and maybe lead to more actual Korean Chicken restaurants opening up. Right now, the closest place to where I am that has good Korean Chicken is Hankki in Köln, but there are also a bunch of places in the Frankfurt area, but that’s even further away.

  1. If you’re ever in Berlin, check out Chibee. It can be a little inconsistent but when it’s good their fried chicken is the best I’ve had anywhere and the sauce is actually spicy.

  2. There is a Korean style burger and a bucket too..wanted to try it and then I saw how overpriced these are.

  3. I am also happy that Korean “fast food” is making their way to germany!

  4. I personally find Korean chicken to be overrated in Germany. Have had it once but did not find it as flavourful as other Asian food I’ve tried. The pickled radishes, ginger, and carrots given in Korean restaurants as side dishes taste better. Either that or the chef could do better.

  5. Is it normal to get only three pieces? I thought your post was ranting about the portion size because in that case I’m with you brother.

  6. I liked the taste, but I would have prefered if the sauce had been a little thicker, it wasn’t just a little bit a mess to eat but also made everything a bit to soppy, I thought

  7. I thought it was waaay too sweet.
I’ve also had Korean fried chicken at a Korean restaurant (Anju) in Munich and they were fire 🔥

  8. I can’t believe it took this long for KFC to offer… KFC. It’s marketing gold, though of course the quality and flavour should take priority.

  9. You should visit Berlin! Theres quite a bunch of Korean Chicken place

  10. They have a Korean chicken place inside a Rewe in Hamburg Altona, which almost singlehandedly is enough to make me want to move there (as if everything else there isn’t amazing). There’s only one place here in Bad Homburg doing KC, called Holy Hen, and TBH they kinda suck 🙁

I think I might be okay with only eating Korean chicken for the rest of my life.

  11. I don’t know, there are plenty korean fried chicken restaurants in Berlin but i don’t think fried chicken is healthy at all

  12. >this leads to Korean Fried Chicken becoming more well known

We have around 10 places that serve Korean fried chicken (usually yangnyeom) in Aachen, population ~260k. Pretty sure there’s much more in larger cities 😅
