To be driving fast enough to cause this in this part of London, no matter the time of day, is abhorrently stupid (in any part of London really). They should lose their licence. Unless it was a medical emergency behind the wheel out of their control.

Another reason cars need to be banned in Central London.
My mate was on Coventry Street when it happened, he said that he thought that scaffolding had collapsed because of the sound of the impact and everyone from Leicester Sq immediately rushed to the scene. He showed me the videos that he shot. It was mad. I drove past there at around 6am and the area was heaving with emergency services, lanes coming from Trafalgar Sq and Piccadilly sealed off, traffic tailed back and blue taps up by Eros Fountain (I guess a triage set up for medics attending to the vehicle’s occupants).
I can’t imagine how fast the vehicle (a BMW 1-series, I think) must have been travelling to have completely uprooted and knocked over several metal bollards.
Edit: Reports are that two people were taken to hospital with one in critical condition.
This is one of those situations where one hopes the worse injured is the driver…
Any time I see a crash or car related incident in London it always seems to be some idiot in a leased/modded BMW or Merc. I notice it tends to be from materialist lad/roadmen types who grew up in estates or from abroad and they absolutely NEED a car as a status symbol despite it being a nuisance to use in London. When they play drill they get really agitated and pumped up and drive batshit crazy. I’m sure fastwhip/balloons were involved too.
I’m impressed they were able to drive fast enough there to flip their car.

I live in soho, and for the last few nights, people have been revving up the bikes and cars the entire night
Oh I audibly gasped then thinking someone had ruined the statue before realising it was a car. Is the statue okay?!
During my recent visit to London a few weeks ago, I took a leisurely walk through Piccadilly following to Kensington. To my surprise, every few minutes, a motorbike or a speeding car would pass with wild roar and at crazy speed. I never imagined such reckless driving could occur in London, city of CCTV covering every square inch.

I don’t get why no country has ever implemented lifetime bans from having a driving license. If you’re caught endangering other people that’s it, no more driving for you for the rest of your life. Driving a car shouldn’t be a fundamental human right. You can just get the bus or an uber to move around

Police and council drag their heels in doing anything about it due to costs and the fact a lot of places in the west end have no public CCTV ( which is insane )
