NEW YORK (AP) — All the major banks passed the Federal Reserve’s annual “stress tests” of the financial system, the central bank said Friday, but the test conducted by the central bank was notably less vigorous than it had been in previous years.

All 22 banks tested this year would have remained solvent and above the minimum thresholds to continue to operate, the Fed said, despite absorbing roughly $550 billion in theoretical losses. In the Fed’s scenario, there would be less of a rise in unemployment, less of a severe economic contraction, less of a drop in commercial real estate prices, less of a drop in housing prices, among other metrics compared to what they tested in 2024.

Prosecutors doubled down during closing arguments on their theory that Sean “Diddy” Combs carried out a sex trafficking criminal scheme for two decades as he enjoyed fame atop the hip-hop music world. Then a defense lawyer belittled the government’s decision to prosecute his client, saying it was an unjust intrusion into the bedroom of Americans. The two differing views came across during closing arguments Thursday and Friday that will weigh heavily on a jury that begins deliberations on Monday. Defensive struggles again plagued Miami with all four of PSG’s goals coming before halftime. Despite Sunday’s loss, Miami’s tournament play showed many positives. The European champions quickly erased the Herons’ hopes of pulling off a monumental upset before a big crowd at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, building a four-goal lead by halftime.

The changes made to President Donald Trump’s big tax bill in the Senate would pile trillions onto the nation’s debt load while resulting in even steeper losses in health care coverage, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office said in a new analysis, adding to the challenges for Republicans as they try to muscle the bill to passage. CBO estimates the Senate bill would increase the deficit by nearly $3.3 trillion from 2025 to 2034, a nearly $1 trillion increase over the House-passed bill. The analysis also found that 11.8 million more Americans would become uninsured by 2034 if the bill became law, an increase over the scoring for the House-passed version of the bill.

The Tampa Bay Lightning placed forward Conor Sheary on unconditional waivers for the purpose to terminate his contract. The 10-year veteran was limited to playing just five games with the Lightning, and spent a majority of last season in the minors because of the team’s salary cap constraints. Imaging done Friday did not reveal a fracture, and Peña has been able to swing a bat the last two days. Manager Joe Espada says “it’s just still pretty sore, so no need to rush to get him in there.” The Astros are off Monday before starting a series in Colorado on Tuesday.

NHL free agency has an unpredictable feel with the salary cap getting its biggest jump in history and a lack of high-end talent hitting the market. That’s especially the case if a team acquires Mitch Marner’s rights and signs him to the same kind of big-money contract back-to-back Stanley Cup champion Florida did with playoff MVP Sam Bennett. The cap is going from $88 million to $95.5 million and yet there may be no unrestricted free agents available who had more than 70 points last season.
