After failing to secure trade deals with other countries within the 90-day period, Trump now says he will just sent out letters to countries instructing them what to pay. “I’m gonna send the letters. That’s the end of the trade deal.”

  6. Dude, this guy’s always been a bully in his own business, right? He’d just steamroll his partners, screw them over by not paying them, and get away with it. So, he thought he could do the same thing in government. Can you imagine trying to boss around China? Surprise, surprise, it didn’t work. He failed with them and everyone else, except maybe countries that are desperate for help or want special treatment, like Pakistan when they tried to get him a Nobel Prize. None of this is gonna work out for him, and we won’t get the money he promised from tariffs. BUT, here’s the kicker: he’s still gonna cut taxes for the rich. The whole point of the tariffs was to make the lower-income people pay more taxes, so he could cover the cost of the tax cuts for the rich. So, he’s cutting taxes for the rich even though he didn’t get any tariff money, which is just a selfish move that his supporters don’t see, but it’ll mess them up financially – classic Trump.

  9. Companies with significant trade will simply put off investments until Trump is gone. Trade policy being something different everyday is simply too burdensome for businesses. It is literally best for most corporations to just wait Trump out.

    In the interim that is bad for the economic outlook.

    As Canada/Japan have already proven earlier in May, all these other countries just need to sell their U.S. bond holdings to spike up the U.S. debt interest rate, causing the U.S. government to not be able to afford to borrow for spending on the Big Beautiful Bill.

    That’s why Trump’s April Liberation Day announcement was a total failure because U.S. just don’t have negotiation leverage. If the U.S. wants to continue the US Dollar hegemony, then they can’t devalue its own currency with a loose cannon president that threatens the Dollar’s stability. If other countries can’t trust your currency’s stability, then your currency becomes worthless. (i.e. Zimbabwe)
