MOSTLY TRUE: “Undocumented immigrants paid more taxes last year than Amazon, GM, IBM & Netflix combined.” The ‘illegals’ paid over $40 billions in past 2 years versus only $20 billion by those corporations.

  1. > The left-leaning Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy found that immigrants who are in the U.S. illegally paid $19.5 billion in federal income taxes in 2022.

    > Yale University’s nonpartisan Budget Lab estimated that people in the U.S. illegally paid $22 billion in federal income taxes in 2023.

    > Tax disclosures by Amazon, General Motors, IBM and Netflix show the companies paid just over $5 billion in federal income taxes in 2022 combined and $15 billion in 2024.

  2. Disregard my ignorance please but how do undocumented workers pay taxes hence being “undocumented”?

  3. This number probably doesn’t include immigrants who were here on asylum or other statuses that the Trump admin decided were illegal (they weren’t/aren’t illegal, republicans are just stupid). So the tax dollars paid by people who republicans want to leave is probably much greater.

  4. This is assuming 11 million immigrants paid about $3650 in federal taxes last year. The average illegal immigrant made $46,500 in gross pay. My guess is most illegal immigrants work for cash, and aren’t making almost $50,000 per year. This article doesn’t really pass a smell test.

  5. Providing employment gives you tax breaks because the jobs create taxes themselves. If you took those into account then they would be the highest contributor to the tax revenue.

More than half of the illegal immigrants who come to the US are on some type of government welfare. In 2024 that cost was 42 billion alone. Not to mention the cost to secure the border, the cost of uninsured health care they receive, and the cost to send their kids to free public schools. Illegal immigrants no matter how much you think they create are in fact a severe net negative on the tax payers.

  6. So.. what I’m hearing is this illegal immigrant problem is even worse than the republicans are telling us. That’s a whole lot of money from very low wage earners. I’d like a more accurate estimate of the number of illegal immigrants living in this country.
