Every year on 26 June, Ukraine marks Crimean Tatar Flag Day.
Launched in 2010 by Crimean Tatar youth and activists, this grassroot day was created to honour the Indigenous people of Crimea and the real history of their homeland.
Since Russia’s occupation of Crimea in 2014, the flag has taken on even deeper meaning — becoming one of the most globally recognised symbols of resistance to Russian occupation.
