Khan to quit as MP after sexual assault conviction

  1. Wakefield by-election time.

Con-Lab marginal that only flipped blue in 2019. Brexit voting red wall seat.

Anything other than an easy Labour win and it’ll be an absolute disaster for Labour.

  2. He was trying to hold out as long as possible, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the Conservative Party pushed him out so that they can try and get a feeling for voter sentiment ahead of the local elections.

They could stand to lose one MP, but they’ll want to get out in front of things so they can contest the local elections as much as possible.

  3. Hope that lad is doing alright. Hard enough to come forward about that type of thing but high profile thing gotta be even tougher, seeing it on reddit or social media etc, not like you would need a reminder but still…

And he’ll have to endure it being used as point scoring in political bickering.

  4. A scummy criminal Tory clinging to power and slowly loses grip with each passing hour before finally quitting. You hear that Boris?!

  5. Two things are wrong about this!

    1. That he has the chance to quit.
    2. The BBC’s title.

It should read “Conservative MP Mr Khan allowed to quit after being convicted of sexual assault of a minor”
