My current view of the smoke from the Dava wildfires, over 30 miles away from it

  1. The Dava Moors are one of the areas where Naturescot will no longer grant muirburn licences.

Expect these kind of wildfires to become more common as a result.

  2. On the plus side, Nolan will get some nice moody skies for filming up in Culbin today 👀👀👀 you’re telling me a film production company happen to be upwind from the fire in a filming location perfectly situated far enough away from the fire but close enough for the epic skies? Conspiracy, me thinks

  3. I drove through the A939/A940 junction on Saturday evening heading for Nairn from Aviemore just as the police turned up to close the road. Bushes were on fire only 20m from the road but thankfully the thick smoke from that was going over the A940 so it was all fine.

I’d already had to divert once as they’d already closed the B9007 Carrbridge to Ferness Road and if I’d have been five minutes later I’d have been going home via Dallas and Forres.

Thankfully the winds been mainly W or SW since so we’ve been spared the smoke in Nairn most of the time but it does look impressively dark to the south of us.
