The nation’s finances are down the pan. Labour’s problem is that they keep making U-turns. We’re clearly not all in this together as those who work and contribute to society will, as always, be expected to pick up the slack when they U-turn on this.
The party of the worker? Not anymore.
Again, even the LibDems come across as the reincarnation of Marx compared to Starmer’s Labour
I am sorry for the language, but “traitorous c*nt” is the only way I can call Starmer these days. I hope the recent internal revolts will be enough to kick him out
Like, is there any group besides the rich and the Terfs he hasn’t hurt one way or another?
Absolutely great Labour, BRAVO! With the annual cost of poverty already costing the NHS £50bn per year (almost a £20bn rise in a decade) I cant think of a better way at bringing costs down than slashing the welfare bill even further 🤔
People don’t seem to realise that the national dept is currently around 100% and within the next 40 years or so it’s meant to rise up to about 300%.
Yet they argue about people being plunged into poverty… When in reality without large amount of Cuts and Growth the whole country is facing bankruptcy.
“Labour Party
No More Oligarchy!”
Starmer: Oh they got this all screwed up….
“Labour Party ?
No, More Oligarchy!”
Labour is going to be unelectable for another decade at this rate…
Torries bankrupted the country, you can’t expect the same levels of spending, being an adult in the room means cuts
The same people who complain about the so-called “welfare state” are the ones propping up the most entitled generation’s pensions while turning a blind eye to those exploiting the benefits system. In their minds, every problem this country faces could be fixed by simply stopping immigration. Starmer may not be perfect, but at least he’s trying — more than anyone else has in the last decade.
Yet when tories did it, the express championed austerity of saving the countries finances and the tories couldn’t cut hard enough.
Edit: not defending labour their cuts are disgusting, but it’s amazing when it’s not the tories doing it it’s only an issue for the right wing press like the express.
Although I don’t agree with a lot of labour policies the amount of Tory rag articles we see on this sub is nuts, literally every article is a piece about Starmer, it’s like this group of news papers has an agenda….
Just like with Brexit and every other terrible decision this country has made.
It’s OK because according to people on reddit everyone is cheating the system. So they can all just get those jobs that will magically appear too
Starmer betrays what it means to be labour.
The late, great John Smith, whom I knew personally, would not approve.
The elderly have the country by the balls.
We have the largest disparity In wealth by generation in the world. 34% of over 65s are asset millionaires. Our situation is very unique.
These all receive a triple locked pension.
They would kill their own grandkids for an extra cruise holiday
Bin triple lock, go back to the means-tested WFA idea as well as implementing means-testing on other benefits that rich pensioners receive, tax the billionaires, then weather the storm of tory-rag articles and online question-askers for a couple of years.
1,000 new people on PIP a day. 2,000 new people claiming their pension every day. If you were going to start with one which one makes more sense?
I do hate the media though. Simultaneously Labour are being criticised for reforming the welfare state while at the same time criticised about how they are going to afford it. Very definition of “stuck between a rock and a hard place”.
If Starmer got a mandate from the electorate for tough decisions like welfare reform, rather than saying nothing, he wouldn’t have this problem with the back benchers now organising and driving the agenda. He would still have won against a deeply unpopular Tory party. And now he’s stuck unable to control his party.
Strange, the right-wing tabloids usually bash the poor into pulp…
If this had been the Tories the Express would be whacking off about these cuts
Shock.. Right wing paper exaggerates labour policy for the purposes for creating division and fear
Constant sacrifices in the attempt of recovering the nation, but what do we have to show for it? All I see is people and services suffering, so when do these benefits start to show? Where is this money going? And why are there so many rich in the country not suffering, yet they’re the ones getting richer and profiting more than anyone else? Am I going fucking insane or is the money trickling upwards and being siphoned away from regular people? 150,000 people worse off and plunged into poverty, while there’s probably some people out there using the increased profits to pay off their third yacht.
If they don’t fix this problem soon, there’s going to be a revolution and not a very nice one. Welfare cuts and expecting people to just manage, is truly the “let them eat cake” of our time.
Cut welfare, while Secro published a list of housing then retracted it. God got to love the UK.
We could just fairly tax billionaires- wild I know
The fucking Express.
Moan about the welfare state, moan that taxes are too high, moan about the cost of immigration and lazy benefit scroungers. Then when it’s Labour making benefit spending cuts they get on their high horse and pretend to care about people and poverty.
I’ve had wank rags with more moral substance inside than that fucking drivel.
The express worrying about Poverty, sounds more like fanning flames of the left so as to bolster their wealthy mates.
How was he a human rights lawyer? He has no care for disabled people in the slightest. The answer is to raise a tax on the super rich. You can only stem the rise of welfare costs by addressing why people have become disabled, which means investing in early years support, reducing poverty, making work actually worth it financially. You also need to invest in mental health support. That’s all actual support, not a mealy mouthed, half arsed approach. All of that will cost more than the cost of the welfare bill, and would take an intelligence and organisation that British governments aren’t capable of.
It’s just pip. It’s the minority of ppl on welfare.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: if they’re so desperate for cash, why aren’t they legalising and taxing the shit out of weed like most of the rest of the developed world has already done?
All benefits are theft from the worker to the non-worker.
Starmer really went with the ‘have you tried killing all the poor’ joke from that one Mitchell and Webb sketch.
React to the Russian / China 5th column dog whistle! Go on, bark you good little doggies.
