Canada Day celebrations in Fort St. John start with a pancake breakfast at the Fort St. John Fire Hall and will run from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

The Farmers Market at Festival Plaza will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the Classic Cruisers car show will be held on 100th Street between 93rd and 96th Avenue from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Classic Cruisers show was at risk of being cancelled due to vacant job positions with the club, but got a new president and filled the necessary positions in order to keep the event going for the fourth year.

Other free events will be offered throughout the city such as a scavenger hunt at the North Peace Museum, movies at the Lido Theatre, pizza at Pizza Hut, waived green fees at Links Golf Course and more.

Local businesses received microgrants from the city of between $500 and $1,000 to offer family-friendly activities.

City council cancelled fireworks displays this year due to weather concerns and wildfire risks.
