   All happening to young women who are minding their own business by complete strangers. Hard to believe there isn’t some forum or telegram chat out there encouraging this.

   Edit: lots of comments debating the term “body check”. I live in a city where ice hockey is a big sport. Not uncommon for us to use it here.

4. I don’t get why people would do this to anyone going about their day running. I don’t see any comprehensible intent behind it at all.

5. Pepper spray should be legal imo. It incapacitates without causing permanent harm, making it ideal as a self-defence weapon, and criminals intending to harm would likely choose a different weapon (and even if they did choose to use pepper spray, they would do so regardless of the legality).

   Seems like common sense to me.

6. I think there’s been a huge rise in this sort of thing because of social media. Body slamming of women originated in Japan some years ago, and it’s caught on here. Whole thing just very sad. Why can’t men just leave women alone.

7. I’ve been a member of the running community for about 15 years, I’ve seen this happen, I know one young female athlete who someone attempted to abduct. I’d usually recommend a running club (because people tend not to pick on groups), but I know four adults I’ve either personally witnessed groom, or be convicted of grooming teenage athletes of both genders. I once went home from a training trip in tears because I’d watched an adult man try to groom 3x 15 year old girls by threatening to kill himself, then the coach in charge get angry at me for disrupting his game of jenga when I tried to report it. We sorted it ourselves.

   If you’re a young woman (>18) please look for over 18s running clubs. I’ve recently joined one as I’ve moved areas. There are so many good men out there but it’s a really small minority that ruin it for everyone. Parkrun is a great event if you’re unsure where to start.

8. Crime, abuse and attacks on women on the rise, but no one wants to look at the large difference in culture and views on women that many coming to our country hold.

   I’d rather keep British women and girls safe, than take in the worlds problems.

   Of course its always existed, no one says it hasn’t.

   I’m saying its a sensible and common sense concern to have, that people coming in may come from areas or cultures that dont respect or value women the same.

   Equally as dangerous are those who refuse to acknowledge this, mainly on the left, refuse to acknowledge that other places in the world and other cultures hold different views or levels of respect on women and girls and hidden behind ideological drivien political correctness and would rather blame “white men” or all men than actually tackle an uncomfortable conversation at the risk and danger of women and would actively sabotage their safety.

   Stop putting your head in the sand.

9. Do what the cyclists do – wear cameras, get video, and *get out of there*. Give video evidence to the police, and if they repeatedly do nothing then publish the video to video-shame them.

   You want minimum confrontation, they probably think they can get away with it because they think themselves stronger than you. If they do it in a place you feel safe then loudly call the disgusting cowards out – ***but stay safe***!

11. What the fuck is happening to men?

    I am GenX and often chat with a female friend of my age (45ish).

    Those Andrew Tate type of alpha wankers would have been mocked mercilessly 15 years ago by men and women. Mocked until they disappear in a puff of smoke and shame.
    I thought that we were done with this sort of attitudes but they are coming back with a vengeance.

    I remember reading an interview from a prominent gay British celebrity who was saying that Life in the UK as a gay peaked in the 2005-2010. Sure there was always some homophobia but as he said “we never had it so good” in term of being accepted and now it is far worst (I paraphrase).

    Now, I am straight but I agree that we all peaked then.

    All across Europe, the attitudes to women/ LGBT are going backward and I am sure that it is replicated all over the world.

    I live and run in the Lake District where trail running is a big thing and we often have near 50-50% splits for men and woman in events. This just does not happen here and its sad that certain parts of the UK now feel so unsafe for women.

    With serious GBH barely getting a slap on the wrist nowadays, then I don’t know what the answer is. We seem to be devolving as a society.

21. In the article it mentions that the woman got off lightly. Some elderly guy nearly got drowned by the same attacker, indicating the attacker was least not a misogynist, but just an equal rights dck head.

24. When you look into this survey the chances of it being biased and exaggerating figures are extremely high. The fact the journalist is suggesting it’s grounds for young boys to be given special education in schools tells you all you need to know about her prejudices. This is the kind of stuff you believe if you really want to believe it. The interesting question is, why do so many people want to believe it?

25. We live in the Clapham/Brixton area. My wife has been spat at three times over the last three of four years by men. They were all afro-carribean men. I take no pleasure in saying that, but I suspect this spitting thing will have cultural factors at play, from cultures where misogyny is more common. She called me once when it happened and I got there within a few minutes. I waved down a police car and they were very good and drove her around the area for a while, looking for the guy. They said it was a common problem in the area.

26. My sister got spat on by a man, she was just walking down Streatham High Road, minding her own business. Really shook her up, we have lived in SW16 for 30 years and never heard of anything like this.

27. What’s frustrating is that a lot of the women complaining about this that I see online are the same ones going to ‘refugees welcome’ protests, demanding we let everyone in. They can never connect the dots. They just simply blame ALL men instead.

    You let in thousands of men from countries that treat women like literal shit, and you suddenly expect them to change their entire mindset just because they’ve moved over here? It’s not going to happen. In the same way that men who have been brought up to respect women aren’t suddenly going to turn mysogynistic just because they’ve moved elsewhere…

    This whole timeline is utterly insane. When are people going to finally wake up?
