Why Sy‎ri‎ans face dep‎ortation from Tur‎key over banana jokes

  1. the sub that defends beating refugees, gunning down refugee boats and throeing refugees to sea now defends refugee rights. classical western humanism and eu values

  2. Some old woman from the street argued refugees can eat bananas while Turks can’t even afford it.

As a result refugees started doing tiktok videos eating bananas dancing with bananas ect. to mock and make fun of those poor people who can’t even afford to buy a banana. And people got mad because not only the economy is fucked up but they also get mocked by refugees in their own country for beeing poor.

But here in r/europe the story devolved into this: Turks are angry because syrian ate banana hahaha look how stupid nationalist they are!

  3. Making fun of a country’s economic problems is a bad idea if you’re a foreigner dependent on their protection, especially for a country as nationally proud as turkey.

  4. Deporting probably is too harsh especially if they risk life on arrival in Syria.

Mocking the country that is hosting you though, especially poor people in economic turbulent times is super foul. You risk the general population turning on you and yours. By acting harshly and appeasing the more extreme parts of TR society, govt may be doing a favour to the bulk of the refugees that keep their heads down and just want to live.

Play stupid games win stupid prizes.

  5. They should be deported full stop. Why are people in their prime not helping rebuild their country? Cowards.

  6. tl;dr:

    >In recent days, Turkish authorities have accused Syrians of “inciting hatred” for eating bananas

    Why?

    >One turkish man said: “I cannot afford them”

  7. Well this is just plain weird. These turks complaining about migrants the same people that have migrated to places like Germany and the UK seeking a better life for themselves? Like the Syrians are doing in turkey?

    Seams kinda hypocritical….
