Cant find anything on google about it! Can someone tell me why theyre changing?
Has there been a sudden spike in attacks on police officers that could not be solved with non lethal methods? Otherwise this would be kind of a weird decision.
Refugees welcome lol
Booo
Well, fuck.. Here comes the increased police shootings and accidental discharges..
this is clearly a sign that society has been slowly changing and not for the better
Coming from the U.S. can’t say I’m thrilled about this. It’s not pleasant seeing guns carried around everywhere.
The «gun in the car» plan seemed like a good compromise?
Good for them.
mmm every country which has enriched them with muslime migration from the middle east has also gained more rights for the police….
MENA immigration.
Just wait until someone reads about escalation.
Had the justice system actually convicted in the case of the Brevik bridge murder, I wouldn’t be so sceptical. It is clear though, that a police officer, regardless if on duty or not, is above any and all law. Allowing a whole class of such abovelaws access to lethal tools at all times they are out in the public is not a good policy even if they by and large until now have behaved.
Doctors and engineers have reached critical level in the country!
Wouldnt have been necessary if the government didnt let in everything that moves
It’s to shoot cannabis users. Cannabis is dangerous in Norway.
And still no bodycams… 🤦♂️
This actually surprised me when I heard of it. As I’d seen police with guns over the years I always assumed they could already carry guns all the time if they felt there was a need.
Compared to many other countries, police in Norway are highly trained so I don’t see that it will be an issue.
absolutely unnecessary and a huge escalation from the Norwegian state
Community based policing is basically impossible when you threaten away the locals with weapons
You don’t solve crime without attacking the underlying issues
Criminal gangs will have to increasingly arm themselves in high stakes situations
Expect more dead police officers, police murdering people with mental health issues, massive expenses related to therapy for officers who end up murdering people, lawsuits against the police for unjustified use of firearms and worst of all – more guns on both sides of the law
Norway is taking all the wrong lessons from our American peers and concluding that “might is right”, moving away from our historically exceptional work on rehabilitating criminals instead of producing them.
How many norweigans does it take to fire a gun?
Only swedish and danish answers.
It’s not like we are putting guns in the hands of people with something to prove and 3 weeks of training. They are still Norwegian police officers, they just have a tool for dealing with the worst case scenario at all times now.
