Princess Eugenie has made a rare public nod to her cousin Prince Harry amid candid “scars” admission when speaking about her experience with scoliosis. The 35-year-old royal, who underwent surgery for the condition aged just 12, was speaking with the Scoliosis Support & Research charity.
Speaking about her own experience with her scars from the surgery, she said: “I think scars are, they tell a story about your life, you know, I mean if you think about what people go through, you know, like paralympians…” She then subtly mentioned the Invictus Games, which was founded by Harry in 2014.
Eugenie, who is mum of two boys aged four and two, added: “…like you know what they do on the world stage like and you know Invictus Games and all these people that have overcome absolute atrocities and wear their scars with pride like a badge of honor and I think the same goes for these operations that young people go throught.”
Since founding the Games, Harry has gone on to have success with his initiative – with it often deemed his best work.
Amid Harry’s feud with his family, Eugenie has been said to have the “most tricky” position within the Royal Family – remaining close to the estranged Harry while also close with her relatives in the UK.
Claims previously claimed that Eugenie had fallen out with Harry – however an insider soon hit back saying that the cousins “always will be close”.
The source previously told PEOPLE: “The Duke [of Sussex] remains close to Princess Eugenie. They always have and always will be.”
